SDK IN ONE WEEK, so which mod are you waiting for? -
01-17-2003, 01:42 AM
From PMOH
[quote:430af]That's right folks, have a quick update for you. Our official sources at EA have announced that the Software Development Kit (SDK) will be out to the public in one week. The wait is almost over, so hold on just a little bit more and you'll be on your way to modding.
[/quote:430af]
One week, stores, or for download.
Since I'm so bored, I'm going to do a poll, which mod are you looking forward to?[/b]

I have to agree with Strik0r on this one...the "SDK" won't save MoH and it won't allow full mods to be created

Prolly Band of Brothers mod. I had a couple others, but I'm not sure what is still going. The SPR mod, Journey For One Man, was looking good.

It's just fcuking cynical. EA are more interested in selling new games, than actually supporting existing ones. I used to work in the Games industry, and any fool can tell you, that if you build a community and support it, they'll buy anything you release. However, you need to talk to your community, to find out what they want to see. Don't pretend you're talking to them, then ignore everything they say. Spearhead, could have been a great add on, instead, it had the feel, especially on certain levels, of being a Port from PS2, as opposed to having been written specifically for the PC. Tweaking the difficulty level, is a cheap trick by lazy programmers. The value for money of Spearhead, is pantz.
Now we hear the SDK is yest another EA half finished job. Incredible. Look at European Air War. The game architecture is such, that people can reskin and design new elements, very easily. The game got it's life extended by nearly 3 years.
Also, if there is penty of support and Mods for a game, it just keeps selling. Do EA realise that? Or have the sales of CS and UT totally escaped their notice?
MOHAA is dying on it's feet, and that's sad, it could have had a long and varied life, but instead, we'll just have to keep putting up with half arsed , no value for money addons, to keep the EA money machine turning

All is going to happen is the cheaters will get the SDK and make some sort of invincible emulator for MoH:AA, it happened to Counter-Strike, MoH:AA

I predict the same for MOH:AA; they will release a half-assed SDK instead of the full thing.

He speaks the truth, oOo:
The cheaters are already on it, they are making an invincibility emulator that grants MoH:AA invincibility by editing the client packets (the ones sent to the server)

Jeez
At this rate, the way forward will be the stuff that Jv_Map is doing. Maps you create, with your own bots.
The money part, will be from the creation of new models, maps , skins and weapons.
Hmmmm How about MOHAA addon packs, featuring Skins, Weapons, Maps etc, as opposed to a half assed, insult to MOH winners "full games"
So Ea, you can make up packs , just like accessories for Action Man.. and sell those at £14.99 UK each
You can make Russian Packs, UK PAcks, US packs, Jungle Packs, Historical packs (Zulu anyone?) Each featuring realistic and accurate portrayals of equipment etc.
Can't be bothered to do it yourselves? Throw it open to the modding community, and offer a distribution deal for the best ones.
If you need me phone number , just mail me, it's what I used to do -lol
