Can someone please explain to me how every freaking server is laggy. I have been on about 4 different servers since I downloaded the demo that have not been laggy. I was just on a t1 hosted server, that had 10 players all on broadband, but for some freaking reason it lagged like we were all on dial ups. My guess is that its the net code, because I haven't seen that many laggy servers in a while.

hmmmmm.....probably that T1 server had a weak CPU to hold those players? I've been getting hit with lag in many servers, but it's usually the ones with 32+ players. I played this morning with around 25 players and there was almost no lag throughout the whole time I played. I think once we get the game, we will see servers that are better equiped to hold lots of players.

I have yet to play a game, with more then six people that hasn't been freaking laggy. I sure hope that 2015 get their act in gear and do something before the game comes out on the 22nd!

I'm finding the exact same problem with lag. I'm on DSL and if the server has more than 6 people on it, lag becomes an issue. I have found some exceptions to this, but not many. It is really too bad because this has the potential to be a great game, but the lag is a game killer. I'm on the verge of giving up and going back to Counter-Strike.

Ok,.....going to go over this real quickly so that people understand.

1. You upload speed is very important in hosting games. You must have a high upload speed like a T1 connection or better to host "mega" games.

2. your connection speed means nothing to the server if the server is on a cable modem hosting more than 6 people. Ever tried to get on a web page that is getting hammered...it's slow hunh...but you still have a fast connect...because the server is overloaded.

It would be nice if cable hosters made 6 max games...but that sucks. It would also be nice if we had more T1 and T3 and better connections.

My clan will be posting a T1 connection today and we will also have a 100 megabit colocation server coming live in a few days. These servers will host 30 people no problem.

This would also happen in CS as well...if people hosted on a cable/dsl modem with a small upload speed.

Remember cable is like 128/2000 setup....great for downloading sucks for hosting.

I'm starting to get concerned about the same thing. So many servers, no matter how many or few players there are, lag horribly for me. (I'm on a DSL connection.) I actually have managed to find only 2 consistently reliable servers, one for Team-based and one for objective-based, that I even bother using. No matter what GameSpy tells me my ping to the game is, its always laggy as hell once I get in there, and my ping fluctuates like crazy.

I hope this is only something that relates to the demo, and not the final release of the game.

I believe allot of people try to host 32 on their cable modems...that is the reason you see the terrible lag.

Wait until the full version comes out...you will see many more pro servers up and running.

This game is so addictive! The one problem, and it's a big one, is the "lag" or whatever it is. It (usually) doesn't quite seem like the lag I have experienced in other games. E.g. I pull the trigger zoomed in on someone's head, the gun never fires and I am now dead. I think that if I clicked before I died, the gun should fire. Is this lag, or a flaw in the game design? Also, the frame rate leaves much to be desired. I have an Athlon 1Gig, 256 MB RAM, GeForce2 MX400, etc. settings tweaked, and it is STILL jerky! I have tried lowest and highest graphics settings with little to no difference.

When I play on my server, off a different connection,I still see lag spikes with about half of the players..alive or in spectator.. although the server`s upload changes very little...I suspect the lag on non-cable modem servers is being caused the server`s hardware not being fast enough to update all the clients..so packets get dropped and everyones pings rise about 20-80ms for a few seconds every 2-4 minutes

So in a few weeks I am going to try a different router, motherboard and ECC ram to see if that changes anything .

PS My server is off a dedicated T1..so bandwith is not an issue.

Not sure what would cause this: I just played a game where my weapon changed from sub-machine to grenade and then fired. I was stuck in a doorway unable to move and 'played catch with myself.' When I respawned my weapon would sporadically change to grenade and throw. And of course, more of the common problem where I empty a clip into someone (30 rounds) and then I hear about 4 rounds from them and I am dead. They never died at all. That really sucks.

well the net code IS problematic and I have been assured that the Game will play a LOT better upon final release.I was on a server earlier today and my ping was 23 thru the whole game.we had 24 max players and I am running a 1.2ghz AMD NVidia TNT2 M64 Pro....my FPS's are ALWAYS like 30-50 and the gameplay is REAL smooth.your problem however IS lag,and Lag is caused by MAny factors, the most common being a "weak Link" or a dail-up/bad connect...SOMEONE was either on dail-up or had another program (other than gamespy,as this is unavoidable)running in the background.....I have found that before you start a game,or connect to a game,if you will simply press CTRL+ALT+DELETE
and "end task" all programs except systray and explorer....your ping and FPS will Improve...as you can see my card is NOT the greatest in the world, and I DO have to scale back on the textures and the enhancements, but if EVERYONE will do this you can improve everyone else's online experience.........
