thats because the servers you play moter city on are hosted by the game compony which is trying to make money and still has to PAY for those servers.
The servers that FPS games are played on are paid for by people who like the game and want to play online. Paid for by a lot of different people, not one componey.

yeah.....anytime there's a game that hundreds or thousands of players are playing, you're going to have to pay for the server costs.
To reply to Dodd's post. There is an fps game that you pay for online gaming. That game is called WW2 Online. You pay for the game and then you pay 10 bucks to play a month. Supposedly it can hold thousands of people on the server. I never will pay monthly fee to play online. But anyways Playnet which is the company who owns the development company that made WW2 Online has filed for bankruptcy.
