I thought it might be fun to play sometimes when there was a limited number of sniper rifles and bazookas available, et al. Not banned, just proportional.
I don't do any programing so not sure what it would take.
But like for every ten players on a team you would automatically have 5 M1s, 2 tommy guns, and 1 scope, rocket, BAR respectively. Players pick their "preferred weapon" but they only get it when it becomes available. It is done on a rotating basies, and once you get your preferred weapon you only keep it as long as you remain alive. (This would make one want to stay alive even more.) Once you are dead it gets passed on to the next guy who has it as a preferred weapon. Maybe you can have a first and second choice listed.
It would mean sharing, which I know seems hard for mp players to ever do. But it would also make players do something other than go to the same window with the same weapon over and over and over and over. Would mix up the strategy more as shock troops with submachine guns would be different people than they were the last round, as would the snipers etc.
For the Germans I would recommend having 2 mausers and 4 schmisser machine pistols since they were a more integral part of the basic soldiery than the Thompson was on the American side. Gives the Germans a slight edge, but not nearly as much as if you had the same number of bolt action rifles against M1s.
I am not saying make multiplayer do this, but rather it would be fun if some servers did.
Any thoughts on the feasablity?

Yes i agree with u there m8- god i hate rocket boys[especially the one who fire off their "BP" in corridors- FFS its a Anti-tank weapon not anti- personel] they really should not be in Tdm games but could used in certain OBJ-games[e.g to take out enemy bunkers, MG42 nests etc.] i've made some lists of recomended- weapon loadouts per server

Jeez you must have one hell of a connection, with all those weapon figures maxed out you would have 53 persons on one server.

actually by the time of D-Day the MP40 was the main weapon in Europe. The MG 42 was actually the weapon German infantry units were based around, rather than it being a support weapon.
It was the heart and soul of the basic squad strategy. But the machine pistols were much more common than Thompsons were on the other side.

regardless, in a video game the mausers would put the German's at a great disadvantage. But giving the German's a slight edge by having more MP40s and less mausers would be accurate in terms of the Germans being more well armed across the board in Europe.

I would LOVE to try a server with that many people,yeah right.Anyway I think that you are right,wepons restrictions are cool.

well I am not against bazookas or fausts, as the game is typically so sniper heavy that sometimes it just feels good when a round comes in and explodes and no more sniper. I kind of see them like a small mortor being used. But yes, the people who used them in hallways like super sawed off shotguns gets a bit old.
But I really dont see them that often.

NO NO u dont get it its just a mix and max weapon list-its just cutting down on useable firearms i.e the majority of men in the field used rifles[note the "u" ] its still a 32 person server- but u dont get 12 guys on one team running around with bazookas[only 2/1 for the axis team]e.g of load out for the yanks[16vs16 sever]- 8 garands,4 springfields[i.e the max- so if anyone joined and they wanted this rifle they would have to pick another weapon] 1 bazooka, 2BARS,2 thompsons and say the next spawn two guys with the garands changed to BARS the that would be their max i.e 4 BARS to a sever
do u get what i,m saying- its just the max weapons of that type.

I was thinking more along the lines of unlimited rifles, 1 scope for each side, 2 MP40's/Thompsons, 1 STG44/BAR, 1 MG, and no bazookas whatsoever. This way, in a 24 person server, most people are using the most numerious, historically, weaponry that their country fielded. Garands for US, and Mauser98k for Germany.

NOOOO!!!!!! Limited weapons is one of the things that really sucks about Day of Defeat and bringing it to MoH would really suck. Too often in DoD, you'll get two bastards that take the sniper class and either suck royally, or just keep the class the whole 2 hours they're on the server. MoH offers a great balance of realism and action. If you want more realism try DoD and be content to bleed to death EVERY time you get injured and only be able to jump 3 times before you're tired. I say keep the nice blend that makes MoH different and great at the same time.

If you don't like playing on servers that limit the use of certain weapons in a realistic way, the don't PLAY on such servers.
Many of us think it sucks that each person gets 6 grenades and there can be 100 bazookas or 6 snipers on a 10 man team.
I am not suggesting forcing the entire game to be played that way. I am simply hoping there is a way to set up servers that way so that you are assigned your weapon based on the needs of the team and the overall realistic ratio.
I would not want to play that way all the time either. But I NEVER want to play the way it is now. I only play on chthulu's realistic damage model now and find all the servers using the basic model ad complete waste of time. I would just like to see a game where I have to make use of the weapon I am given just like how I have to change my strategy based on where I spawn. But I would also like to play a game where the other guys don't just use the same sniper rifle in the same corner of the same window over and over and over and over. zzzzzzzz

Yeah, something like this might be fun to see. I also had an idea for an utterly unrealistic mod where everyone is forced to use identical weapons for say, 10-15 minutes. After 10-15 minutes, everyone would then cycle to another weapon, again identical to each other. SMGs vs. SMGs, shotguns vs. shotguns, etc. You get the idea. Of course, I'm not sure how much fun the Allied rifle vs. the German counterpart would be!
This isn't something I think I'd like to play all the time, but it might be a fun diversion.
