I noticed that when I start up a game I can usually get up to 10 people on my IP without any lag, but any more players will make the game struggle.
Whats the # of players you can load and still get to run smoothly and do you think the full version will take care of this problem.

All pings in my game were under 150, so it didnt seem that anyone was laggin us down.

it all depends on your system ram,speed, and connection. I can easily host 8 people but after that it becomes unstable.
Another lag factor is non-dedicated servers, If you see someone with 0 ping in game ya might want to look for another server to play on.
I make my server dedicated, then I goto gamespy and join it.(its the only time I goto gamespy cause Im not smart enuf to get it listed in 'all seeing eye' yet.)

I am creating a game but not dedicated, but if I were to create a dedicated game like you stated, and joined it through gamespy, wouldnt I lag on it? I dont have 2 computers.

ok people for the last freakin time:


1: the SP demo has no texture compression

2: it is a part of a number of lvls and has precahching problems whichs cauese the lag u see its not your system, well it may but i dont think it is..plus the R 8500 is not that great..gf 3 ti 500 has better FPS count


and alos try on lowering your choices for all the crap in the Multi demo that should hook u up

answering my question is one thing, comparing video cards is another, which I didnt ask you to do. So if you want to compare, lets do it in another thread, not to mention, check your wallet, im sure I paid a whole lot less then you did.

you shouldnt lag on it to bad, I ping about 20-40ms on my own server.
My guess would be you should lock it at 10 players. Also, its a good idea to run the kickvote config. Nothing worse then having a low population and have 2 a-holes sitting in spectator mode. You could still easily alt-tab to the dedicated console and boot them manually but that becomes a pain in the ass.

Crunch, i tried doing that in another game once, and I just couldnt, I guess it helps to be going through something such as gamespy to connect instead of connecting using the in game browser like UT? I would be happy if that works, gotta try it when i get home. Thanks.
