I know how it works, because I'm signed up for it.
huuuh, US Army Infantry BCT is 13 weeks long in Fort Benning, GA + one or more weeks at reception battalion. Enlistments range from 2-6 years. I recieved the extra option of Airborne School upon completion of BCT. Plus, garanteed assignment at Fort Bragg (82nd). Marines BCT is also 13 weeks, and divided geographically where you attend it. West US goes to San Diego, East goes Pharris Island SC. All Marines are taught as Infantry anyway, so there are no other forts or camps to attend for "special" jobs until AIT. If anyone saw the History Channel "Basic Training" show for the army, throw that piece of shit out the window. That's how the non Combat-Arms (ei Mechs, Accountants, Clerical, CA's, Secretaries, you know, the real pussy jobs biggrin: ) are trained. Any of the other ones, (Benning, Knox, etc.) are where the people that are doin the fightin are trained. These BCT Centers are MUCH different than the others. So don't think they will be easy at all. Not by a long shot. I know Fort Jackson was tough for the recruits on that show, they probably yelled at them twice, but I hope they will stop crying long enough to listen at what the big, mean drill sergeant has to say next cry: . Benning is up there with the Marines' since it's Infantry, although not as crazy oOo: (please, Marines don't kill me over this). Hope this clarified anyone that was still confused. Great, now Im gonna have the Marines on this forum all over my ass since im in the "weak" army, according to them. Please don't flame war me. It's all in good fun my fellow Comrades biggrin: biggrin:
