I have been playing since June 6th 2001. The day it was released.
The Speed hacks were caused by netcode errors/bugs. Which has been fixed.
The lag is fine there is NO lag. If your system is good you shouldnt have any probs. I have 56k, pent 3 933mhz, 512mb ram, GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb. I lag 0.
They just put in a new net-code with the 1.8 patch.
I am Wolf15, im a Brigaider General French Army, Former C/O 134th Infantry Regiment Allied High Command.

I went out and bought that game the day it came out, for $100 NZD.....Only to find out that I would only get 3 months play before they imposed a bullshit fee on me.
Sure - The game is definitely a shitload of fun....I had a great time, even on the unfinished servers, with not many people, and a laggy ass connection. There is serious atmosphere....But it's just not worth that much money.

Well the game was relased 8-9months early which would explain the glitches and the huge 100+ MB patch. I've often picked the game up at a store($20.00)only to put it back on the shelf. The only MMORPG I'll pay for at this point is Star Wars Galaxies.

WWIIOL is a great game.
I played the day it came out also as MOOXE. Buggy and very frustrating at 1st but the concept was so good about this game I couldnt stop playing. The community was great.... I would always fight in the Waterloo area and so would some other people.... So I'd logon and all the regulars would always be fighting in the same spot, you knew who was good and you knew who the newbies were.
Most impressive about this game was the large formations of aircraft and organized assaults with TONS of players. I loved seeing bomber formations bomb me in a city... It was just great seeing the whole concept come to life.
Even playing the German HT was fun... towing around an 88, being that guys lifeline. Not getting to shoot, but still having fun. That was very remarkable about this game, you could drive a truck and not get to kill anyone and still have a blast!
The Panzer38T was by far my most favorite vehicle. Sitting on top of the high hill in waterloo on the defensive I was able to snipe CHARs and Soumas at +1500 meters. The AP round would come down on top of thier armour and I would rack up kills like you wouldnt believe. I ran outta ammo so many times. Alot of fun!
Unfortunatley I had to unsubscribe because of the military.... To many exersizes and now I am deployed to Bosnia. I will be checking back into it when I get home though.
This was my 2nd favorite game. The Close Combat series being my most favorite.

My friend bought it. He said it got boring. I'd rather spend my money on Star Wars Galaxies.

So, you finally got a new video card? I would try it, but I would want the free trial to download, and the upcoming one is a Mac trial.

I've tasted persistent world fee games before (ex-EQ addict) so I'd be tempted to avoid this anyway.
However, I have one simple question to ask and the answer will sway me to buy or avoid.
So I won't tell you which answer I'd like to persuade me to buy it cos you're obviously biased biggrin:
Question is this: Is the game based on realistic physics (similar to DoD), or is it more similar to MoH stock, a little more swayed to favour arcade styles of play?
Please let me know, I'm not paying for a game just to play it for a month.

It is totally based on realistic physics. You have to keep your head down in this game if you want to survive, no MOH style arcade attacks. All vehicles can take all sorts of damage, infantry go down in 1 or 2 hits. Aircraft are superbly modelled which is one of the biggest praises this game recieves.
Graphics in this game arent nearly the best out today, it is the gameplay that keeps people playing and paying. The size of the game world and complexity of the physics is why you need a high end system.

yea Slinky finally got my new videocard lol. When you gonna talk to me on msn? And as for trial, there is supposed to be a MAC and WINDOWS version coming very soon!
As for gameplay, its very realistic. You cant just run into a enemy base and act like rambo, you will die in a matter of seconds. Its simply awsome. Just to take a town or city you have to plan attacks, you have to get armor ready to sieze with infantry (as some call camping).
Just check it out! You can buy it off the net from CRS For $19.00 and get 1 free month of play. Test it out, dont like it trash it!

This is probably the most realistic I've ever played. The weapons all have somewhat realistic bullets, where you have to take drop into mind when shooting from long distances. There are so cross hairs for infantry, only iron sights.
The tanks damage model is amazing, I've even seen a vid that lays it out. If you know a tank historically, you have a good chance at killing it in game. You can hit a tank 30+ times in the spot and not to a thing, because the armor could be really thick there. You could also kill a tank in 1 hit if you know where the armor is weak and where to aim. You can shoot around the turret gunners posistion to kill the gunner, disabling it from shooting. You can shoot the tracks to disable it from moving. You can aim for the engine to make it smoke. All crew posistions in the tank are killable, and if the crew member dies that is responsible for a task, you can no longer perform it (driver dies no drive, gunner dies no gun, reloader dies no reloads)
It's amazing how much detail they put into it. It may not be the best graphically, but the realism sure makes up for it.

Ah ok, thanks for the replies, but that's exactly the reason I wouldn't play it.
I'm sure it's a great game for those who want to spend the time and effort dedicating themselves to it, but I don't have that time nor would I want to spend it playing a game online.
DoD stayed on my drive for approximately 2 days. I just don't have the time to play ultra realistic games (not anymore).
I prefer the games that I can pick up, play, and drop when I want to.
Thanks though, but I'll give it a miss (Please don't tell me I'm missing out or it's my loss, I've been addicted to games like EQ and believe me, by not playing it 18 hours a day it is definitely not my loss, lol).
