It's a mod we leave in because there are so many other reasons to babysit all the crybabies and cheaters thats it just one less thing to worry about. I personally have never used the E key to climb a ladder, so I don't see the big deal. A couple of weeks ago we had this issue in a SG match. The other team started bitching about it but agreed to start the match with it. They got pissed with 4 min left in the 1st round (down 120-60) and all left the server. I guess if you learned to play the game doing this it could be a hard habit to break.
