Default SCREENSHOT QUESTIONS - 04-06-2003, 08:20 PM

How do I take screenshots of my desktop or while watching a DVD on my computer, and where are they saved to?

You hit print screen. Then you go into Photoshop or paint and hit paste. You dont save them. You have to paste them in a pic editor then save.

I know i have to press Print Screen, but I go into Paint Shop Pro and there is nothing to paste. There has to be a directory where all of the screenshots are saved to, just like screenshots in MOHAA and MOHAAS. Then I could go into PSP and open the shots from the directory where they were saved.

You obviously aren't getting me... I know how to get the screenshots from MOHAA and MOHAAS. I want to know where my screenshots go that I take while watching DVD's. I took a bunch of shots while watching SPR and BOB, and I also took a few shots of my desktop. I want to know where they went after I pressed the Print Screen button. They had to get saved somewhere, understand?

Where they go when you press print screen? The screenshot resides in the memory then. No file is being created.

Go to Paint Shop Pro or whatever is the program you like to use and paste (as new image). Then you can save the shot as a file.

But...print screen doesn't work well if you want to capture a frame in for example WMP. All you save is a black screen instead of the frame you like. Do a search on the net on how to capture frames from a DVD, or DivX, or...

For your desktop - hit Print Screen, goto PSP7 and press Edit>Paste>As New Image.

For a DVD - Get a program called PowerDVD.

Hey Bazooka, how do I do that with Photoshop? I got it earlier than I thought and I already uninstalled PSP7.

While the DVD is playing, press the little camera button to capture a pic:

If you want to change the output, right mouse click it. The Capture To File option is the one that will allow you to rip a picture out properly.

Look at the second picture. And if you still can't find the file, do a Start>Find>Files And Folders for "*.JPG" no quotes.
