Default Running Custom Maps on a server - 04-08-2003, 09:20 AM

I'm running a server and want to use some of the custom maps I download from this site. The only problem I have is when I try to use the maps on my server I get a cannot find map.bsp file.

What do I need to put into my server config. file in order to run these maps on my server?

You need to put the PK3 file into the main or mainta folder for your server.
The map name may or may not be the name of the pk3 file. The best way to find out is to open the pk3 file and locate the .bsp file inside. You can open the pk3 files with winzip and you should see some files inside. Look for the .bsp file and that is the map name. Scrolling to the right you should see what directory it is in (obj or dm). So if the map name was ubermap.bsp and it was in dm, you would put dm/ubermap into your server.cfg to bring the map up. You could also use rcon password map dm/ubermap to go directly to it from your console.

In addition to the pk3 file being on your server, you need to place it in your main or mainta folder on the computer you will playing the game on as well. If you are running the server and game on the same computer then you are already set. I run my server through a server hosting site, so I have to ftp them onto my server and also place them into my mainta folder on the computer at home where I play the game.

I hope this was what you were looking for and helps.
