Hi lads...

Hmmm..Not all elements of the French Army were defeated in six weeks..some of the last defenders of the actual Beachhead at dunkirk were a large group of French soldiers who watched the last ships go off without them and elected to fight a rearguard action to defend the beach itslef so that the Brits/Poles/French could make the best escape possible... they fought alongside survivors of Scottish highland Regiments of the British Expeditionary Froce and most of these Men paid with their lives for there Brave actions...Fench Army Units also took part in the Battle for the Norwegian City of Narvik and even after that fell many of these French Units came to Britain to fight as Free French Units under De Gaulle..they took part in Campaigns in North Africa,Italy,France and Holland..Free French units helped Liberate Paris.....

Lets not forget the actions of the Maquis and French Communist Resistance Movements,may of whom were captured and tortured for fighting against the Germans and a great many had members of there families put into Concentration Camps from which they never returned..Im not French im Scottish but i feel that in many cases they have been given a raw deal when it comes to World War 2..I hope i can rectify some of those opinions that all French were cowards..thats not the case...do an Internet search for Oradour Sur Glane and youll see how the French people suffered at the hands of he Nazis....and thats just one example of many...ive visited places like the Maginot Line and the small town of Niedebrun where knocked out American and Canadian Sherman Tanks are still preserved with there crews graves next to them which get fresh flowers on them every day..they havent forgot the forces who liberated them..perhaps we need to remember that...
