Ok well...its starting to piss me off!
Everytime i`m on kazaa and i want to go on the internet it takes like a minute to load the internet...and i have dsl so theres no problem when i get on the internet...its so quick...
What can the problem be?
I think i may need more ram for my laptop...and yes guys i need a desktop blah blah blah but i`m using my moms laptop which isnt so bad...
except the .....well heres the laptop stats...

Sony Vaio
Amd Athlon XP Processor 1800+ at 1.533 ghz
15" XGA TFT screen
30 Gb2 harddrive...
Cd-RWdvd combo drive
and 256 ddr sdram...upgradeable to like 512 or 1024...
and a 32 mb Nvidia Geforce 4 420 go....
on games my fps isnt so bad...but i dont know why all of a sudden my computer is running slow....and i`m not running anything but...norton, kazaa not downloading anything and going to my homepage"yahoo.com"

Please i need some advice...and if i need to buy some more ram or a better video card for my moms laptop then give me a website and/or store name that sell these things... thanks alot

That system is in pretty good shape. Instead of thinking of upgrading, why not try defragging your hard drive?

My mom got a pretty good labtop. Compaq Pentium 4 windows Xp with a burner and a DVD player she got it all free from her work.

If you have the patiance and/or will you could always format it and change the file system from FAT32 to NTFS. Unless it's already using the NTFS file system :/

Also make sure that you have at least 700 megs free on your primary partition (C:\ where windows is installed) and that you don't have a lot of crap in the background taking up a lot of resources.

You should also disable the file & printing sharing if you wish to secure your comp but that's pretty irrrlevant to your current situation.

There also a number of ways to "speed up" your internet but i can't remember them although you should be able to find info on that just by using google.

ok thanks...so noone thinks i should upgrade my ram atleast?
i only have 256ddram sdram

wouldnt it be so good at 512mb?

Hey,

Since nobody else seems to be replying...
On my desktop system:

AMD XP 1800+
256mb pc2100 ddr ram
Gf3 Ti500

I added another 250mb and it helped tremendously. Web pages, and games. I can see the difference, especially in loading times. Its fairly cheap (for desktops at least, I know almost nothing about laptops) and its good. Id add 256 more.
