When I start the game, a grey screen appears, then it turns to black, and that's it. The mouse pointer is visible, and I can move it around, but the game doesn't load any further. I can't exit from this black screen either, I have to reset my computer. It does this both in safe mode and normal versions.

Anybody else have/had this problem? Any idea how to get around it?

Post the specs your computer. Also, turn off any virus or firewall programs.

I tried it without having any programs run except Systray and Explorer, but I had the same problem.

Here are my specs:

386MB of Ram
64MB 3D Prophet 4000XT Video Card
Sound Blaster Live MP3+ 5.1 Sound Card
OS: Windows 98 A 4.10.2222
40 Gig HD and 56x CD-Rom Drive

I've dowloaded the latest version of DirectX, the latest drivers for my video card (which didn't help in the least, and now my screen is shaking! It's really annoying...). Can anyone help me?

Instead of the LATEST version of V/Card drivers--try the next lowest.

No luck Game does the same thing. I even tried re-instaling the game after intaling the almost latest driver, but the same thing happened.

And what really ticks me about this whole situation, is that the official boards are down.

Geez I'm going crazy over here, I just watched the Omaha beach videos again and I wanna play it!

I've tried everything! Downloaded DirectX8.1, latest drivers for my sound card and video card. Re-instaled the game many times, nothing seems to be working

Please can anyone help?

Try some lower v/card version numbers. Here's a good site for v/card driver stuff. Do not install new drivers over old ones. Use the Detonator Destroyer.

It's telling me something in the start up console in the begining of the game "Couldn't execute (or find) something" There are a couple lines of this. Any idea how to get a copy of this text?

Since we're just guessing try this:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

Solution #1 - Sound Card Settings:

This following is from the MOH:AA official site message board:

"PEOPLE WHO GET A GREY SCREEN... READ THIS!!
by l0s3rkid2, posted Dec 26, 2001 2:11pm

ok... last night i was chatting with people in the gamespy lobby, asking them to help me. some guy was helpful enough and told me how to fix my demo. before this i would always get a gray screen when i launched the game, then it would crash.but anyway this is how u fix it, if ur having this problem. Got to My computer, double-click control panel, then double-click Multimedia. On the audio tab, there are two menus hat say Playback, and Recording. Each of these have a drop-down menu. In each of the two drop down menus, set them to Usable By Any Device. Trust me... it WORKS!"
