Texture Compression

Ok, so I have an old video card, a ATI RageFury I believe. Anyways I can't play most new games because of the simple fact that my video card does not have texture compression. So I can't play Battlefield 1942 or Call of Duty (Demo) and Spearhead (demo) is really laggy. Is there anyway to solve this problem without buying a brand new video card? The problem with buying a new video card is that the computer is my parents computer and they don't think we need a new one and they don't want a new one. Can anyone help.

Nope. Unfortuneatly, it's a hardware issue, not something you can upgrade or tweak via software.

Or just go out and buy a $50 video card and swap it out while your parents are asleep.

Open computer. Look for card attached to back labeled as video card (usually and ATI or nForce logo). Unscrew card and remove from PCI slot. Slide new card into PCI slot. Screw new card in. Reboot with drivers CD in CD-ROM. GG Plug-n-Play.

Believe it or not, it is just about that simple.

If you have Windows XP or 2000, chances are there's some sort of drivers already installed on the OS, and all you need do is swap the cards. If you open the case, just find the card that has the blue VGA port coming out of it. And, when you buy most well-known video cards (Nvidia or ATI-based), they come with documentation to show you how to do this, as well, complete with pictures.

Hi guys my problem is sorta on same theme. I have a Geforce 4mx440 64mb and recently i have been plagued with sudden fps drops in the middle of my mohaa games . This happens even when im not in a laggy situation such as walkin round lol. I usually clock around 50 - 60 fps and have never had this problem till shortly after i started using the sdk and radient. Is there any known reason 4 this. Its not overclocked and i have very latest drivers. I have also defragged etc but i dont want to take radiant out if its not that any help is appreciated ty in advance.
