I'm hoping against hope that the retail version has less cpu usage than the demo. At least maybe a patch to address it. I can tell you right now that this demo is more of a system hog than Battlefield!! We have been testing it on some of our dedicated servers and the results are not pretty. This game will die a horrible death if this is the case because no one will be able to afford a server for this game. Demo is a POS in my opinion, BTW. You can play this garbage on 64.5.63.3 This is running 24/7. Enjoy if you can.

Breakthrough....errrmmmm, new maps look pretty good, new skins/weapons are cool, Liberation mode is VERY laggy! However, oddly enough when the Obj map is run on the same server the lag dissapears. The liberation map is rendered virtually unplayable, hard enough getting from one side of the map to the other, let alone hitting anything. I agree with other points here...the liberation cutscenes suck, and the whole idea of liberation, while it seemed cool as an idea, in pratice is gonna cause more trouble than it's worth.

Will I buy it? Hmmm, dunno. If they fix the lag/framerate issues then I probably will.

Right, I'm off to give my SH clan-mates an ass kickin.

I really enjoy Spearhead, for the most part. However there is something about BT that left a bad taste in my mouth. These cookie cutter expansions are just starting to get under my skin I suppose. I will have to agree with the majority on this one... POS.[/quote:27e1a]

Please buddy.
-This is spearhead nothing much changed. I will bitch to the fact that no vehicles were availible in this demo. I feel the italian units should have been disabled for the demo and a couple vehicles availible to use.[/quote:27e1a]

I remember reading an interview with one of the TKO devs, he said they were going to leave vehicles out of the multiplayer component. Something about how they weren't meeting the quality of MoH standards. Lol, what standards. Sry I can't remember where I read it. Anyone hear about this?

One more thing about BT. The Mine Detector class is... um what's the word I'm looking for.. oh yeah... gay. It's time to move on from this series.

Here you go. This is from Gamespot, I don't think anything has changed since this interview. Sorry people, looks like you won't be driving much of anything... except yourself crazy for buying this Xpack.

-----------------
GS: We hear that players will get some new abilities in multiplayer games, like driving vehicles and calling in air strikes. What are some of the other abilities? What sorts of effects will these have on the gameplay?

JH: Unfortunately, due to time constraints, drivable vehicles will not be included in Breakthrough. Our goal from the beginning was to introduce new gameplay and features that enhanced the player's experience. Given the technology and time, we decided to sacrifice this to add more-impactful gameplay. The drivable vehicle code, while functional, wasn't up to the standards of Medal of Honor, and ultimately we weren't happy with the feature in the state it was in. We decided to pull the drivable vehicle feature to focus on the rest of the game, and quite honestly it was a small addition and the effort to perfect it wasn't worth the benefit.

Guys stop and think for a second is it slightly possible that EA are shitting one cos there old buddies infinity ward look like having better sales than them?

So what do they do release a half assed demo that barely plays to hopefully win back support. Most certainly they read these and other posts and are now thinking ohhhhhh shit what have we done. The finished game should have a few of the creases worked out and some of the crap i noticed gone. For instance in liberation mode notice that the guys in the firing squad with pistols have no bullets lol. Or in the menu there is no texture for the cant vote on this server?

When EA finally wake up to themselves and realise games are not just for easily pleased kids who they can rip off we will all be happy..

end rant

Seriously. Game was completely fucking lame. EA has millions of dollars, and releasing something like this is just looney. I think I enjoy stirring dog shit on a hot, humid day with my tongue than playing this waste of disk space.

My other favorite quote EA made about breakthrough was something along the lines of... Breakthrough is based mostly on single player enjoyment, which is what most users purchase the game for...

ummm i guess thats why they only released a multiplayer demo, right?

Contradiction, after Contradiction after contridiction....

Played it, disliked it - just like SH.

The fundamental issue with the two expansions is that they did away with the sturdy (if a little glitchy) net-code and rendering routines that 2015 developed (or, they kept them but failed to improve them to incorporate all the extra workload).

Just played on a 35 ping server with two other low ping players and yet it was still mostly guesswork when it came to aiming. The sheer jerkiness totally ruins the experience. Whoever enjoys SH and BT is a masochist no other way about it.

It's not just the maps, either. It's the core of the game that is at fault. Whoever tacked on the new skins, weapons and scripting totally ignored the counter-factors of gameplay, performance and diversity.

Btw, the liberation mode is so jerky because of the scripting, most likely. Whereas 2015 (and 95% of the bloody players who try their hand at scripting) managed to create scripting for objectives that was simple and effective and that ran smoothly, EA just seemed to have taken what was there and added loads to it (without thinking of what it may do to the game).

It's like they read the "Scripting for idiots" book and butchered the notepad files with reams of text that does the job, but in a way that demands your PC's attention so much that it has to neglect graphics rendering and network updates for every single cycle of the game.

Poor.

That EA passed the develoment of PA to TKO may just be the single reason it doesn't fail misserably (except in the eyes of weird masochistic WWII fans who think that a pretty game is a good game).

But then they're up against COD (and HL2, probably)... No chance. They're just not on the same higgins boat at all.

it seems to work faily decent on servers with 20 people or less, try to get on anything bigger and you can forget about using a rifle or sniper rifle, can't hit shit due to lag.

One good thing is they finally fixed the PPSH, it has 70 rounds, not 46, better range than MP-40 (like the real thing) and it no longer taked 8-10 hits to kill somebody.
