[quote="{TRC}ZenMaster":b3d8a]There is no way Im gonna sit here and type a damn chapter of history on the American Civil War.

Look its simple.....

The confederate flag , dispite being used by some as a symbol of slavery and racism , has the heritage of those who faught for it in the civil war.

Now if you have the impression the civil war began , was faught , or ended because of slavery you are mistaken.

This has nothing to do with Germany or the nazi party.

I find that most people of forien nations have no real clue about American History , exept what they have seen at the movie theaters.
Which for the most part is completely false , and is made for the simple desire to make a profitable film.

This would be like me commenting on the the Revolution of a forien country , because I saw a film about it.[/quote:b3d8a]

*Ahem*

I just finished a year of AS Cambridge History, which was ENTIRELY American History.

....and it covered the entire Civil War, including secession, and the Reconstruction period following the War. In serious depth I might add.

So yes, I do know what I'm talking about, and yes, protection of slavery (or, the southern 'right' to their 'peculiar institution'), played a huge part in denying compromise during the secession period, ultimately causing the Civil War.
