this picture was taken right before an attack in Falluja--you cannot tell me that kid in that picture wishes he was there, or is thinking of serving his country, or the Iraqi kids and schools.
EDIT: Dude, please resize pics before posting them.

If hes afraid to die then he shouldnt be in the army, or fighting for that matter, hed just be another Pvt. Blithe afraid to kill a man, afraid of death. I like how Speirs said it in BoB, "We're all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there's still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function. Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse. All war depends on it."
When you join the army the last thing you should be thinking about is saving yourself, because as soon as you sign those papers your dead. Plus I know that there is a God and death is only the start of a whole new life, theres nothing of death to be worried about if your lucky its just a few seconds then eternal good fealings!!!

How about some of you guys form opinions that arent taken from tv mini series eek:
Just because you are in the military doesnt mean you cant be scared. Theres all kinds of fears that go through your head. Combat, passing inspection, maneuvers, falling overboard and being stranded in the China Sea. Many of these kids joined because the military offered a good career and lifelong experience. Its a gamble you take, but the last thing they need to hear is some kid going on about honor, service and all that bullshit when he doesnt have to go.

Pinhead, you're wrong.
as soon as you accept that you are going to die you are as good as dead.
It's the "won't be me" mentality that got soldiers through numerous wars, and now you say its wrong.
All soldiers fear death (unless they're some kind of section-8 nutcase), but I believe it was Patton who said "the difference between a hero and a coward is holding off fear for 3 more seconds"

Im not saying I want to be a hero though, acually Id rather be a nobody pvt that died because of some stupid friendly fire accedent....I just brought up BoB cause I knew everyone's seen it and everyone remembers what Im talking about, acually Id say this is, Pfc. John Deslauria from the 1st Calvary Division, who won no medals other then a purple heart said, "The only way in a war to be a real soldier in the army is to fight like you dont have a life, that your one of the other dead soldiers on the ground, thats the way to fight right!" There, that is a nobody pfc that later died when his helicopter was shit down in Ban Me Thuot by friendly fire. If you want to live your going to try to live and be a John Kerry...
