Green laser pointers are new to the market. The green laser has a wavelength of 532 nm, which the eye is much more sensitive to than the red lasers which have wavelength of 635-670 nm. I heard something a couple a years ago about using blue lasers to make cds because it has a smaller beam so you can fit more data in the same place.
