First found in Dumfriesshire where they held a family seat since about 1150 after losing their previously held lands in Thorpe Arnold in Leicestershire under the Earl of Leicester.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Thomas Wood and his family who had settled in Virginia before the "Mayflower" in 1620 and within the next 50 years other Wood and Woods had settled in Boston, Maryland, Salem, and the Barbados.

anyone know good places where you can find out this information, not just on the internet but actual people that research this.

My last name Vitaliano is really scarce, and i really think it was a made up name, because my grandpas grandpa was an orphan, and they think he might have been put with a chinese family, and they didnt know the last name of my great great grandpa, but they knew he was italian and they gave him the simple name Vitaliano

I dont know. There is some relative of mine, that is a historian, ive never heard of the dude before this. But he researched are family and made a little newpaper thing. It was intresting. Us niggahs started in norway, and crashed a ship in scotland. And knocked up scottish bitchs

My great grandfather was the first out of our direct line of Mccormacks to settle outside of Scotland....and my dad was the first to move out of Otago (South Island, NZ)....And, well....Word. oOo:
