Every once in a while in MP, all pings exept for one or two rise to 999, which makes the game unplayable. What is this?

9 times out of 10, that 999ping is someone that crashed and has not yet disconnected, yet is still sending data back to the server, the only quick way to boot them is to use the clientkick # command, otherwise you wait and everyone suffers till they disconnect.

Every once in a while someone gets a really bad connection cable or 56k. When this happens the person that is running the server has to really compensate for this and usually in turn ends up raising everyone else's ping. Like someone said before, the best way is to use the command prompt and kick the person with the highest ping out until the problem is solved. This situation is also very common with chat clients _Yahoo messenger, AIM) in which you can create a visual basic program which constantly pings a persons computer to the point where so much data is coming through that your computer can't handle it and either slows down, freezes, or disconnects you. A bit of info, probably not that helpful, but good to know
