You don't need assault weapons and such.

However, criminals are going to get weapons in illegal ways. Therefore legalizing assault weapons really makes no difference.

If joe blow wants to buy an uzi, but its illegal, he'll just go for the glock. If he goes on a rampage, you can do just as much damage with the glock as you can with an uzi, so I don't think thats an issue. I doubt crime would increase because of it.

assault weapons are cool, but its just a fad (underground cool kids already have light sabers and laser blasters)
