You cant say "it has the toughest gun laws in the country" because il bet its just been the past few years, guns that were bought before the gun control took effect dont just dissapear, it takes time for the changes to actully make a difference.

well.. gun control works here paine. as ninty stated above. So really the problem is not inj the defenseless not having a gun to shoot back with... it is obviously related to something else.

You have to think population as well.
if there are 100 murders in canada with a population of 30,000,000, then 1000 would be equivelent with the US population at 300,000,000.
I know its more than a thousand a year in the US, but say 1000 is "normal". oOo:
Movies and games have some influence. I think its hard to say they don't.
Ialthough you can't really say that a person shot another ONLY because of a movie or game. It's a combination of things, but I don't think violence on tv and games helps out any.
