Default Wireless network problems! (pics!) - 12-12-2004, 02:41 PM

This is what it says when I first boot up my computer. It says something different every time, but it always has those boxes, just a different number of them.

I can fix the problem by going into my network connections

Selecting properties on my wireless card then configure, and this is what comes up. After that, all I have to do is press OK, and it goes back to my actual network called jeff.

This is what it should look like when i first boot up. If I do the steps above, it goes to this network, but I shouldn't have to do this. It should do this automatically. When I do this, the network works. Everytime the other computer wants to access the internet, I have to do this process.

Anyone have any ideas? This is really pissing me off. It seems like on startup it isn't defaulting to the network called jeff and just giving me garbage, and i can't figure it out. I've tried uninstalling the bridge and reinstalling, but I just got the same thing.

One other thing is that there is no router involved. I have 2 computers, and 1 wireless card in each computer. Their connected to each other directly.

Dude, I have the same setup, 2 computers each with a wireless card in them.

I'm not to sure about your problem....It's like wtf

What I can't figure out is how to share the internet....They both have XP - But I've been racking my brains trying to figure it out. It's not as easy as XP will have you believe it is.

I have the network up and shit, just no internet on the upstairs client computer.

Actually, no, I don't.

I just have a wireless card in each PC. I've had it working before on these two computers, and under this system, but I got my uncle to set it up - And since then I've had to reformat the upstairs client PC.....

Yeah and what are they connecting through? A modem by itself? i think not..... there has to be a router involved

Well I got mine working for the moment. Uninstalled and reinstalled everything.

As for your problem trip, are you getting the signal on the 2nd computer?
