Nazism is synonomous with mass genocide and Auschwitz. The very very few ignorant people out there are in denial about it. The vast majority knows what happened and so future generations are pretty much guaranteed to be educated about it. Movies actually do influence people; Schindlers List immortalized what happened, and will most certainly become one of the classic movies shown over again in the future.

I dont mean to take light of the events that happened, but this is so OFN by now, i find it boring to see how the subject is brought out in every single subject. It isnt about genocide anymore, its strictly about how the poor Jews were brutalized and what can we as a society do to ensure they get their 15 minutes every year. Its just as much PR as having those advertisements with the white, latin, black and asian kids for the Boys and Girls club. They (jews) have had generations to move on, they have their own country, they have museums and support groups to make everyone remember. I think they need to get over it already.

Dude.....Not cool. These people are still alive. I could understand what you were saying if there were no Holocaust survivors still alive, but the events are still directly effecting people, and quite frankly you have absolutely no right to tell them to "get over it already."

It's really as simple as that. That's why the day of remembrance remains. I personally associate the holocaust with a warning about blindly following a leader. It's a perfect example of what happens when you do that. I can't think, off the top of my head, of any other atrocity against humanity that illustrates that point better.
It teaches us to be cynical of those which otherwise would lead us to our downfall, no matter how charming or charasmatic they are.
