Default Opinions on Stalingrad 2?? - 08-15-2002, 10:11 AM

i am making the final version now. to fix all of the existing bugs in it and to add a couple more little details to refine the map more.

i was wondering what you as the community feel about the map. please tell me what you think would be good added, or good changed. as of now i am not taking anything out.

what i can tell you is, that i have already finished adding working ceiling fans, and i have clipped a couple of things that could be walked thru. thats all i can say for now, but expect the final version by middle of next week. thanks and leave comments here! :P

Its way better Good job.
Actually the only thing i did not like was when you went up on the roof and you get to see the sky, instead should but buildings a little higer in the back so you cant look down. I think it gives you the more feeling you are there then actually floating around.
again very good job

it a very good job you did, you must have put alot of time in it but the only thing that i don't like is the bad texturing. I don't know if you were planned to redo the texturing but like what it is right now they are 2 times larger then they should be. Try to resize them as much as possible.
Overall very nice map.

i mean almost all of them. ea or 2015 , don't know which one created the textures, they made allmost all the textures are to big. If you need to reduce them to scale 0.5 then they will look fine. Really i mean it. Now, it looks like some rooms and wall having giant bricks and wooden borders. When you resize them, the textures will be more smooth and fit bether.

I am running your map on the DK666 server. We did find an invisible wall on the roof top near the sniper rifles and grenade crates. The downward sloping roof which leads to the back of the map has a barrier which can not be shot through. This is the side which lets you up from the ladder and stacked crates. You can't jump down from the back side slope to the rooftop with the sniper rifles and you can't shoot through it. Ok I hope I was confusingly clear on that, I didn't write down the compass direction on it at the time.

The only thing I could hope for was a future expansion of the bldgs. (Yes we always ask for more) I applaud your work, in fact this map will soon enough be part of at least one map rotation config. I always thought that another row of buildings would make this a sweet map. We did find that once one team grabs control of the roof tops its hard for the other team to beat them down. Not impossible, but very very hard. I like the fps on this map too, maybe fogging the upper levels would increase movement beyond camping on the roof tops.

Posted this also on comment on Modtheater but it is better to repeat then never be heard
[quote:9e5c5]
Just played it , just with 3 guys FFA but I think I've got the idea.
Apart from the mentioned glitches. The rooftops seems to be sticking out a bit. Since there's been enough ooohs and aaahs I just do the bits where there's room for improvement

The flow of battle in the map is a bit unbalanced. The rooftop is only accessible by one single ladder.
The extra sniper rifles and especially the nades are too much. With a 20 person of more I expect a lot of nades flying continously because of the unlimited supply.
A few more access points would be great ( a ladder near the MG and a way to acces go on the roof from the semi open rooftop ( stupid me no screenshots made of that one)
If positioned correctly in team mode the team that makes it to the roof will be dominating. The single ladder is then too easy to defend.
If with enough people the MG42 will then be truly devasting. No window is safe if there's also covering fire from the rooftops with MG's or snipers or worse RL's...
The corner with the mines I would also give that some elevation so one can lob then some nades on to the roof...
I like the car , it blocks the view a lot from that same corner.

That's all. Looking forward to the next release......[/quote:9e5c5]

Also, try adding more static objects and not making the rooms identical. With more tables, chairs, and beds, add felling to the map and make it better.

I love the map, but there's not enough to explore, like the regular Stalingrad map. There's a mini-hallway that leads nowhere on the mounted MG platform, and I was thinking you could add some corridors branching off from that instead of just having it as a dead-end.

Excellent work, though. My favorite map to date.

Default My thoughts... - 08-17-2002, 11:07 PM

I agree the map could be improved as far as the balenced play and the roof top glitch. What I dont agree with is the adding of beds, tables and such in the rooms...

We dont want this map being lag hell and chop city like Village of Despair do we? Dont think so.

This is a great map. But I think if you go adding ammuntion bunkers and more nades and weapons around the maps then ladders wont think to add this to competion. I mean, do the standard maps have all that running around. I suppose if you do add all that it would be fun, but I am really looking forward to having my squad practice on this great map and competing in a ladder match on Stalingrad2.

bigzooka: look at me chillin in the middle of all this war cool: M16:

I got my money on the dude with the big winker.
