whatever happened to respect and fun? -
08-17-2002, 01:08 PM
ok, now if you've ever read any of my other threads it usually involves the concepts of attitude in the game instead of the game...i guess thats just my style. but seriously, i remember back in the days of CS when people used to respect each other; when they used to have fun being nice. now, on a rare occassion i find a couple of these people on a server, the respectful kind. right then and there the fun level goes WAY up...because you can actually have a conversation with them and not be called a faggot for killing them when they're "typing". now, is it just me or do you have more fun when respect is the feeling that you get in a server? i know i do. whenever there is a feeling of unity--even from opposite teams, i tend to like the game more. share opinions. peace.

It's unfortunate, but I've had to teach myself to ignore all of the whiners and immature players that make it a habit to use profane language whenever they're killed, or just flame you just because you're good and they're not. It has been this way ever since the early online games, it hasn't changed. The problem is these games draw all kinds of people, and most of them aren't nice at all. What happens is that you get all the geeks that have no friends, no life, and they are used to getting picked on their entire life. As you know, the internet provides you with an anonymous identity, so they feel that they can act like a bully to someone that is a thousand miles away, without worrying about getting their ass kicked. Screw them all M16:
Well, that's my rant for the day.

Come check out the Fighting For Freedom server. Our server is dedicated 24/7 with a great amount of work put into for fun and respect. We run the CKR mod, ff is on, we run roundbased and objectivebased maps, Autokicker is running, Language Filter in use, and a server ban. bat file to keep away banned players. If your banned on our server it is for life
Our webpage: geocities.com/freesoldiers (good place to check out server rules)
Our server IP: 65.214.58.51

As soon as school starts back up the servers will empty a little and the little kids will be gone. Shot guna and rocket whoring will be back down and hopefully people will show a little more respect towards eachother.
I mean this isnt cool...

I wasnt kicking everyones ass (yet) later i would lead the scoreboard pretty well. But thats what happens when teams are balenced and im on allies with realism rifles.
By the way RudeDog you may want to talk to your Admin, thats not acceptable. My first visit and i get that.

Miscguy, I think you might be a little over sensitive about the remark from the console, looks to me like a friendly jab. Of course I wasn't there at the time so I don't know the whole story. But I play on the server quite a bit and I've never seen the any of the admins. act in a negative way except to peeps who are about to get kicked for breaking the rules repeatedly.

I have asked the adimis about it and yes, I would say the same thing that oldguy did
The other problem we have been having. Is people like to join with the name console. They think it's funny.
I am looking into a way to stop that.
If it did offend you and it was one of my guys, I'm sorry about that. Hell if it was anyone on the server. I'm sorry about that.

I prefer it when you have "mature" group on the server, who actually use some semblance of team work as well. It's much better when I feel like I am actually working as part of a team.
Another thing that gets me is whiners to complain about "camping". I like to hold an area and kill any enemy that enters that enemy. So you get the same person running round the corner, time after time trying to rush you. And each time they get killed they spam the console with things like "camper faggot" and such like. If they had half a brain they'd go the other way and surprise me, or use a grenade or something.
And they feel so vindicated when they get you "take that youcamping faggot" - man, grow up.
END RANT

I agree. I prefer playing Omaha or the Hunt when my group fights like an actual military unit. ie: backing each other up, using covering fire, attacking as a unit, etc. I used to complain when I was new, but now I just keep quiet unless I'm giving someone props for a good move or shot. I also like to joke around with players I'm playing with. I poke fun at people but let them know I'm just playing. I think we should all try and go out of our way to be courteous and it will spread. F the jerks who wine, tk and have no respect. They won't last in MOH for long anyway...

I am a real newbie. Only been playing for about 10 days. I am looking for the honorable & respectful players. Have not met many. If you know where I can find some to help me with this game, I would appreciate it. Already tired of asking for some help and receiving either no response or some negative comments. I do enjoy playing with/against my friends that have come over from Battlezone. They are honorable, respectful and fun.
Hope to find some in the MOHAA Cummunity. oOo:

I'm fairly new too Dad. I started just a few months ago. I noticed a few things. While playing Objective games, I would watch the "seasoned" players. They will show you, unknowingly, where the best hiding spots are, how to use the different weapons, and how to "dance" while attacking or evading the enemy. Make sure you reload after each kill, preferably behind cover. Keep moving. Don't stand still for longer than half a second if you can help it. Snipers are a bitch. :P When you open a door, don't rush into the room. Wait a sec to see if someone is on the other side first. Don't empty your clip on empty air if using an SMG and MG. Short controlled bursts are more accurate and more efficient. As your aim improves, use the rifles and, sniper rifles to better hone your aiming skills. Download good crosshairs and scope mods. These are some things i've done and my scores have improved dramatically but I have a long way to go.
Good luck and hope to see you in the battles...

Your right i may have been over reacting but i recieved this message about 2 -3 minutes after joining the game. Upon seeing it i assumed i had pissed someone off in that short period of time. That or all these guys from the forums simply held a grudge. Either way i didnt know anyone in the server well enough to be tossing around jabs like that.
I have since recieved an oppolgy from the admin and an explenation to its meaning. All is forgotten, and in the end it was something i just blew out of proportion. I apologize for any inconveniance it caused anyone, and to the admin that was just poking fun.
