I agree with the original post. STG44 in CKR simply replaces the shotgun with an even more powerful, more accurate and longer range weapon, with the fastest rate of fire.

It then goes and replaces the shotgun with the M1 which is just as bad, except not so much on the rate of fire and lesser clip.

Again, the BAR is an insanely powerful gun.

As are the two SMGs.

But, it's across the board and it does offer a completely different (and more realistic) game, so it's very popular.

I just think that anyone who says they prefer CKR because it reduces the shotgun's power is living on a different planet.

It's like that Jedi mod... That is the biggest self-ironic mod I've ever seen. It actually cusses you for being a 'lame rocket fag' (or words to that effect) when it alters every other gun to be way, way, way more powerful than the rocket was in the first place, lol.

You couldn't make it up, really.

(disclaimer: This post was not written to flame CKR. I don't like playing it but let's face it, it's bloody popular and it will keep the game alive longer, so kudos to Crow King)
