Why are those guys wearing their kneepads around their ankles in that first pic, would there be any particular reason for that?

I've done this before when on ex. When you're not needing them, you just slip them around your ankles cause its more comfortable. However, they look like they might need them soon so yeah, I don't know why they don't have them on.

Yes, it does restrict movement as well as circulation. They tried to issue elbow pads but they never caught on. From what I understand, your supposed to have flak vest, helmet, and kneepads anytime you are in the field-so even if you dont want to wear them-you have to have them on.

The tigerstripe may look cool, but it was inneffective in Vietnam. The stripes on the design are horizontal, while things in nature tend to be verticle. The horizontal stripes allowed people to see your outline easily, they also faded easily.

I have not seen the cyrevision stuff-looks interesting

yeah they do. to keep them on well you need to do them up pretty tight. so they restrict movement. you wouldn't really want to walk around with them on for a really long time, but they save your knees a lot of pain in urban combat.

their also good for section attacks. I don't know if they still teach that in the states or not, but they do here. basically take 2 steps go prone, take another 2 go prone, your knees get a lot of work. this is for assulting a trench. their kind of phasing it out though.

also, if i were issued elbow pads, i wouldn't wear them. when i was on course i developed calises on my elbows from firing in prone so much on different surfaces. after you do it enough you don't need elbow pads. also they would restrict motion way too much.

what some prok?

the tiger strip was ineffective ?? thats why the SOG and Recon Teams that wore the tiger stripe camo inflicted alot of damage on the VC in their own backyard.

I'd say it would be near impossible to judge a camo's effectiveness in the field especially in a conflict like Vietnam...Who is calculating how many NVA/VC are catching out G.Is based solely on camoflauge....?? oOo:
