Fighter jets have been seen in the air, cars were seen racing away from the White House. No link needed, check the usual sources. |

He probably would have been safer in the White House... wrapped up in bubble wrap.

There is a big difference between a 747 hijacked by terrorists, and a single prop cessna.
Anyway, you missed my point. My beef is not with the response. If there is a plane that is in violation of air space, scramble fighters. That is a correct response. The problem is the media picks up on the story and just furthers the fearmongering the government already does. This story is a non issue. It shouldn't even be on the news right now. There are much more important things going on in the world that deserve media attention, that get none, yet all the news channels will stay on this story all day long.

 | Wait... you're annoyed that this story will be on the news all day? My mind is boggled on how that could possibly affect/annoy you? Its either this or some other crappy filler news or more car bombings in Iraq... thats the news for you.. if you let every stupid story annoy you... well... you'd be extremely annoyed. |

It's not one story, it's all stories. It's the fact that main stream media does nothing but shovel piles of bullshit into homes every day. Media has a responsibility to the people to serves as a check and balance on government actions, corporations actions and other ways people are affected. Media has a responsibility to investigate and report, not give opinions and sway the public. All I see is Left vs. Right screaming at each other, and news stories that have no bearing on anyone whatsoever.
Example: Terry Schiavo and the run away bride. If this is news, i'm Willy Wonka.

And yes, it does annoy me, and that is why I try my best to avoid watching or reading any american cable news.

Most of the news I get comes from the CBC, BBC and other independent news sources on the internet.
