Default Land vehicles need to be a bit more resiliant - 06-24-2005, 03:44 PM

Not to enemy fire but to the terrain, the same flaws that were in bf-1942 and bf:nam exiost in this. That being tanks or apc's if they go over bumps on the ground of any kinda height you start getting health deducted for it. oOo:

Been noticing it more and more in this game and it seems even more pronounced than it was in the previous 2 games possibly due to the physics. I dunno about anyone else but id rather not have to worry about that 2 foot hill causing me to lose health when my tank "bumps" down the other side of it, one map last night i was attempting to get across quickly and lost around a quarter of my health due to little bumps i was going over. 80 ton tanks, 2 feet bumps = health loss, id prefer having to worry about enemies rather than having to treat my tank\apc like it was a piece of glass.

biggrin:

Well the map in question for me, im not even sure of its name, foggy as fuck though and pretty big. Kinda fucking aggrivating to lose a tank battle i would have won if my tank wasn't taking damage for every little minor bump it took.

cuss:

What is it with these kinda games and tanks exploding on impact with water anyway? eek: Still trying to figure out why the bradley isn't amphibious in game as well.

See here is where we get technical.

[url:96e0d]http://www.army-technology.com/projects/bradley/[/url:96e0d]
[quote:96e0d]All Bradleys are amphibious. Earlier models are equipped with a water barrier, which is fitted by the crew before entering the water. A3 models have an inflatable pontoon which fits on the front and sides of the vehicle. Water propulsion is provided by tracks and the Bradley can attain a maximum speed of 7.2km/h in water.[/quote:96e0d]

In my book that makes them not amphibious. Its like the DD shermans on DDay, sure they were "amphibious" but not so. In fact when being trained on the bradly there was no mention made of it being amphibious.

Yeah, going up a hill kills your speed. On Oman if you were to stop a tank on the road that goes into the center beach base and try going again the tank will sit there for a few seconds before it final goes up the hill.

WTF?!?!? geRV's using old material here at gf1.com?!??! cuss: biggrin:

But seriously, the damage from going over bumps is a total pain in the puss. That was one of my pet peeves from BF1942/DC.

Yeha its kinda weird that, the game seems to base hill climbing on more of a momentum system, if you're going fast before hitting the hill you'll get up it faster. Stop midway and you crawl the rest of the way leaving you open to a missile up the exhaust (buttocks fav method of dieing). wallbash:
