Camping
Some people claim that camping does not exist in MOH. My respose is BS!
Yes it does exist. No, it is not the same as camping in Q3, but guess what, this isnt Q3.
If you ever find yourself in the bell tower or that little dark hidey hole behind the church in Destroyed Village, or maybe you are hanging out behind the bushes in Algiers or under the tree on the bank of the river in crossroads.....You are camping. Sure, it is a valid strategy, but it is camping none the less. Sure people are going to complain, but I think I have heard people complain about the color of the sky (and lima beans) in this game too. So what? Who cares?
If you dont want to be called a camper, dont camp or just deal with it, but dont say camping doesnt exist. The strategy of the sniper is built around the concept of camping. Again, it might not mean the same thing as it did in Q3, but it does mean something to MOH players. This post is not directed at any one style of gameplay.

I was pointing out that camping is fair and valid, in WWII I am sure many soldier did this kind of thing, hiding in corners or anywhere they could and took pot shots.

I think I said that before you flamed me. hake: I dont care if you camp or not. You will kill me or I will kill you, then we respawn, rinse, repeat, call a few names, rinse, repeat.

camping has its place. You cant camp too long soon enough they will figure out where you are. 1 shot 1 kill a few times then move to another vantage point. I make sure the first thing I do after getting respawned is go after the MOFO that shot me! I love sniping! Take em out at a distance, reach out and touch someone!

I especially like the name calling bit.
It's great when the same person gets a bee in their bonnet about where you are situated and keep trying to rush you. Everytime you wate them the message pops up "camping faggot" or similar, and the vitriol when they eventually do manage to kill you. WHy don't they just try to get you from behind, or try a different route.
I was having this discussion with a guy the other night and was about to finish for the night. Just typed in "And don't forget sh*t happens" when this guy who I'd been having a bit of a duel came round the corner and I got him. SO couldn't resist jibing "Doesn't it Mori".
He got me back by lobbing a grenade into my hidey hole.
"Now you can go" he said
what a jape.

I guess my lingo needs work because I'm not sure what you said to this guy, Aristotle. But I agree with all of you. First, if you're defending a position or objective, then you SHOULD camp to defend the route to the objective or the objective itself. If you're experienced enough then you'll know the best places to hide and it's their fault if they can't stop you from taking them all out.
Good example: I was playing Thunder Obj as Axis the other day. I took up a pos. next to the door separating the back yard from the bunker area - not really hiding, but too dark to notice anything unless it's moving. One guy kept coming around the back of the house and charging through the door only to get smg'd several times. I think I got him 7 to 9 times before he changed his tactics. Fortunately for me I was able to see anyone coming from the front of the Flak and killed them off as well. Only exception was Little Chubby Bear who managed to sneak by me into the bunker, but even then he didn't know i was there and I took him out. evil:
As far as being the Assaulter, camping is good, but not for long periods of time as you do have an objective - KILL THEM BASS FISHES!!! evil:
So, IMHO, camping is a necessary part of the game and if you can't adapt to it, find something else to play or play MOHEAST or WEST where flame wars are more common then the bullets flying.
Just my 2 cents. angel:

The true definition of camping in-game is to hide/hold a position near a coveted item such as a heavy artillery weapon/health pack, in order to give you an advantage over an opponent whom stumbles into your "fire funnel".
Since you can't really pick up a weapon that respawns in MOH (unless it's a custom map), you cannot do this, hence camping does not exist in MOH.

I must have missed class the day they handed out FPS dictionarys. Since you can say camper, and everyone knows what you are talking about, it exists, at least in my book, and since I wrote it on the internet, it must be true. :P Your definition looks like it came out of the quake book. Since Quake used the term, no one else can? Should we call that practice squatters in MOH?
Campers exist.
Just rubbing my 2 pennies together.

strategic survivalist positioning or SSP for short
Or maybe Combined Armed Multi Player Enigma Role - or CAMPER for short
The fact is that the misnomer will be used, just like shrapnel.

Hey guys , it's part of the game , and we deal with it . I will sit still for a while myself at times if I think an nme might come thru , but not for long . If I get wasted by a camper, I will go after him , and if he's dumb enough to stay in the same place , I will get him sooner or later. I really don't see it as a big problem, like I said , part of the game. biggrin:
