Default More Patch Details and 'Booster Packs' - 01-11-2006, 05:24 PM

http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=15776

[quote:e485c]

Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.

Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.

The 3 maps are “Operation Smoke Screen”, “The Great Wall of China” and “Taraba Quarry”.

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – “Midnight Sun”, “Operation Harvest” and “Operation Road Rage” – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at downloader.ea.com at £5.99 in the UK.

As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

• Server search filters now work properly

• All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the “G” key.

• Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives

• Flash bang effect radius decreased

• Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits

• Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.

• Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.

• Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.

• Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter

• Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased

• APC Update – “Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials”. This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.

• Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).

• Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.

• Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.

• Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon.

As always, thanks for your support and keep talking – we’re listening.[/quote:e485c]

I admit I'll buy them at £5.99, just think of it as the same as a return bus fare, a hefty cocktail or a cheap blowjob from a local prostitute.
Surely the booster pack weapons will be useable in all types of game, meaning vanilla users will be a little out of luck.
I bet anything they'll make the British accents extremely over the top and sounding like they're from the 1940s as per usual. Maybe they'll model us so we all have bad teeth and a pipe in our mouthes.

herrrrrrrrrre comes the EURO FORCE!!!!!!!!.......hopefully not a euro farce..

Patch 1.2 is coming out late January to early February btw, my guess is Feb the 1st. freak:

WTF $10.00 for 6 maps and 'Euro Force'. Hardly seems worth it.

Hmm, wtf beats a .50 cal bullet? Id say fix the damage they do, its grazy how the M24 does more damage than the M95.

Meh 6 quid for a couple of maps that by right should have come free. I love how ea can release content and are fairly quick about it when it has a price tag attached to it. Strange how theyre not so quick at patching game issues with updates that don't have a price tag attached to it. oOo: Server browser STILL gays out for example and has done since the initial release. rolleyes:

i read some interview on totalbf2 and the reasons stated for charging seem reasonable ... you cant expect them to develop shit for free i dont guess, those fuking developers have to get paid.

i havent quite decided whether or not ill buy; i probably will. i dont see how having maps only people who bought the shit will be able to play will be any fun.

i dont look forward to the no jump / fire shit tho ...

I can pretty much guarantee that half this shit in these "booster packs" is stuff that didn't get finished in time for the initial bf2 or Sf releases.

Ea used to release free maps and so on with 1942, some of those maps had new vehicles and weapons, this is the same thing only charging for it. annoy:

Thats yet another thing that was meant to be in the original release of bf2. annoy:

Some things look interesting though, being able to pick up c4 packs, longer time to go prone And finally aa missiles are actually useful for something, the wya the game is now even if you hover with a helo they will sometimes miss. oOo:

i dont think you have to "buy" the patch but you do have to buy the extra content .. i think thats how it goes.
