Default skin edit, 1.1 cheats? - 09-01-2002, 03:26 AM

I need rear views of my new skin to edit it. I altered the game shortcut to allow cheats (to toggle cg_3rd_person). I know the shortcut works because I get a 'cheats = 1' from the console in the main menu.
But then cheats won't work when a map is loaded (I create a mp internet game with just me in the game), and I get a 'cheats = 0' from the console.

1. How can I see a rear view of my skin for editing?
2. Anyone guess what's going on with the cheats?

I suspect cheats don't work with the 1.1 patch, although I can't find any info online to support this. If you have the 1.1 upgrade patch installed and can get cheats to work, please let me know.
Thanks

Thanks wolf-man. You made a great tutorial. I'm not sure I want to go through all that, but maybe I'll have to. I still can't get cheats to work.

If you're having trouble with some of Allied Assault's missions, or just want to experiment, there are a number of cheat codes you can use. Before you can use these codes, however, you'll have to do two things first:

Create a special shortcut to run the game from.
Save a game and reload it.

The easiest way to create your shortcut is to make a copy of the one Allied Assault creates for you, or edit your shortcut directly. Once you've found your shortcut, right-click on it and choose "Properties". In the "Target" area (after mohaa.exe), enter the following:
+set cheats 1 +set thereisnomonkey 1 +set developer 1

So it will look something like;
"c:\Program Files\EA Games\Mohaa\mohaa.exe" +set cheats 1 +set thereisnomonkey 1 +set developer 1

Pay attention to the inverted commas.

Thanks again. Wolf-Man. I've been all over the Internet looking for cheat help & I've been using the altered shortcut as you've suggested.
(I bet you got ticked when you typed out the shortcut for me to use -- the info is so readily available everywhere.)
I think you've helped me zero in on the problem, though.

Most "cheat pages" on the web leave out the 'developer 1' part of your suggestion. I had already found one page that included that part but when I try it, the console gives me this on loading:

"LOCALIZATION ERROR: 'Mohaa Console' Does not have a localization entry:"

Maybe if I could fix this localization problem I can get everything else I need. Do I need to modify the existing (pak'd) localazation.txt file?

Hey, RUNGSI, you're right! I keep my cheats = 1. But now I have no player model to see from behind! (see my first post). Do I have to make a new config file that sets the player model and then exec it after the map is loaded? (That seems like a big pain in the ass just to get the cheats working). I guess once it's set up it would be a pretty smooth routine to edit the skin. Thanks, RUNGSI

You're the first player I've met that learned how to write before he learned how to read.
