People down here, around where I live, tend to be way more liberal I think, and also there are a shitload of different races around where I live - I get looks all the time from Maori/Polynesian, Indian and some Asian people, but I get a suprising amount of dirty looks from other white people....

Both my sisters and my g/f complained about the cut when I first got it, saying I looked like a neo-nazi my gf even tried to outlaw me from having it.

...I think I get those looks also because sometimes I dress a tiny bit militaristic, but nothing major, just like an army shirt or a jacket, etc
