Getting Started

Well here we will cover tutorials for all you need to know for applying towards your sigs and using Adobe Photoshop or its cheaper brother, Adobe Photoshop Elements (Limited). Now you will have to get one of these somehow, you can get a free 30 day trial from [url=http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product=39:533d6]Adobe.com[/url:533d6]

"OK I HAVE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, WHAT NEXT?"

You need to find some tutorials on using Photoshop and basic Photoshop techniques, visit [url:533d6]http://www.tutorialized.com[/url:533d6] for a large selection of beginning tutorials or see below for some of our very own groundforce1 tutorials:
  • Photoshop Tools Tutorial :
    http://www.fpsgameforums.com/forums/vie ... p?p=360971

Use this if you are a noob to using photoshop, a great tutorial explaining each tool you will need in adobe photoshop

    Feathering Tutorial :
    http://www.fpsgameforums.com/forums/vie ... p?t=177430

This tutorial explains how to blend (feather) two images together using the feathering tool and is a great tutorial to start off on as is easy to do.

Blending with layer masks Tutorial :
    http://www.fpsgameforums.com/forums/vie ... p?t=160626

This is similar to the feathering tutorial but with this you blend the images together using layer masks and gradients

    Soft Edges (Gif) Tutorial :
"Select the outer most shape and switch to the channels palette. do select contract by 1 pixel ( or if 1 isnt enough .. you know ) then select feather by half of what you contracted... then fill the selection ( alpha channel ) with white."

A small tutorial on how to prevent the choppyness of edges in the Gif Format

For much more tutorials and tips check the list at the bottom of this post.

Using Fonts

Want to use new fonts and download some new ones to use in photoshop?

Well you will want to search around certain sites that allow you to download fonts for free, for the font/s you want to use, such as the following sites:

Once you have downloaded the specific font files from these sites, put them in the following folder (assuming you have windows)

C:\Windows\Fonts\

(Mind you will have to restart photoshop or the program your using before these new fonts show up!)

Using Brushes

What are brushes?
Brushes are like stamps that you use on a piece of paper, except in this case they selected paint brushes that you can using in photoshop. Brushes can be adjusted in size, without affecting the quality of the image. This way you can use on any size of image, such as a signature.

How do i select different brushes?
When you selected the brush tool, you can open a little window where you can change the size and shape of the brush. Just below the size-editor, there's a little arrow pointing to the right. Click it. Another window opens now. Here you can choose from different brush sets. If you click one, it asks you if you want to load that brush set. You do, so click 'OK'.
To get back to the original brush-set, follow the same steps as above, but instead of selecting a brush-set, you click 'Reset Brushes'. Click 'OK'.

Can I download other brush sets?
Yes you can. Go to pureanodyne and download the brush set you want to use. In order to get PhotoShop to recognise the brushes, put them in the following folder:
  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Presets\Brushes

or it may differ if you have a previous version of photoshop, like below

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 7\Presets\Brushes

In order to load your new brushes in photoShop, follow the same steps explained under 'How do i select different brushes'
