My favorite example of this afghanistan mission is how easily Canadians changed their minds. 4 weeks ago polls showed 69% not in favor of taking over the mission there. Then 2 weeks later and a heavy doseage later of a media campaign by the PM, minister of defense and general hiller..45% were still not in favor while the rest wanted us to take over the mission and thought we were doing a good job by being in afghanistan..Good to see the media doing their part! oOo:

Jean Chretien is a faggot.

[quote:76882] Nor was Chretien very sympathetic about the tragic loss of human life on September 11, 2001.

Chretien suggested that the West, especially the United States, was to blame for the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.[/quote:76882]

Had you even heard of him before you read that article?

In regards to Mach, in my opinion, in general, people are influenced by others. We see this everythwew. people agree with others not to cause confrontation. If media says one thing, people will agree. I think the media is extremly influential on how people base their decisions which I think is wrong. If the media operated with transparency and in the best interests of those watching, perhaps it would be worthwhile to listen. Until this happens, it's not worth my time.

Any government will use the media to get their agenda through. They'd be stupid not to. Independent media? I don't think so.

The problem specifically with this issue is that people have no idea what were doing in afghanistan or why were there. The line between going in to OBL after 9/11 and our current duties have been blurred. The current mission has nothing to do with OBL or anything like that.

People are willing to just go along with it beacuse it's easier to do that then to ask questions. If it doesn't affect them, their not worried about it. Perhaps this eludes back to Chretiens comments in the article.

when I read "Nor was Chretien very sympathetic about the tragic loss of human life on September 11, 2001." I was like ed: ed:
Its sad that some people will belive that shit, even many Canadians. I was glued to the TV and newspapers for atleast 4-6 months after 9/11 and to see this guy say shit like this makes me laugh alittle but even scared that people will belive it.

Should Canadians be in Iraq? NO! Im very suprised we are and I hope fellow Canadians speak up to get these people out, even thought I think thier there for UN shit
