Default Mobile video processors - 09-06-2002, 11:52 AM

OK, I'm curious if its possible to change a mobile video card in a notebook. I'm not even sure if its a "card" or not. Is it something integrated into the MB? If this is possible, where can I purchase something like the Geforce4 440 Go or Mobility Radeon 900? I need help! Thanks!

For some laptops yes you can. I've never done it though. I've taken laptops apart to clean or change a HD but never a video card.

Dell allows you to buy just the mobile video cards to put in thier newer systems. You'd be better off checking on your manufacturer's site.

We're getting closer and closer to the day that we can game on a laptop with similar specs to our desktops.

Your laptop has to be equipped with a mini-PCI slot. and even then your better off checking out the new
Alienware Area 51-M laptop.
This thing kicks but, a little heavy but the next best thing to a desktop

They got a 9 in the latest Maximum PC issue.

Haha rudedog I'm one step ahead of you! Check these sites out and tell me if you notice anything similar to the Alienware 51.

If you are going to get a laptop and use it for gaming you might want to get one with a docking station especially if you are going to be taking with you to work/school/the bathroom all the time. Buy yourself a monitor too. Trying to game on a laptop monitor will not work very well.
