I tried serving it last night and it really lagged. I moved on to another map after a while and things went back to normal. Next time around, it lagged just as bad.
Also, how do you get in to the extra sniping area now. before, you blew the wall open, now there are planks across the hole, but they wont break!
Cheers

well actually it shouldnt lag. check your FPS, it should be running good. if not, then turn your settings down, that must be the problem.
about the sniper room, yes it does have planks. find another way in biggrin:

Ah - da man himself.
First off, thanks for sharing your work. really good and inovative in what you squeezed out a tired old girl.
The lag was unfortuatley experienced by the other person in the server too (same story as before - we both cycled back round eventually and it happened again, but I had rebooted the (dedicated) server in between times
too to see if it was just PC lock up.
I'll try again tonight or tomorrow if I can, and will let you know.
The point though being that I can't turn down settings as its a dedicated server, but all clients can of course, but they're probably not going to want to if it's just one map they have problems with.
Anyway, getting way ahead here, I don't mean to imply there is any problem.
& theres another way in that room is there. ok - thanks.
Cheers

heh. i figured out his secret pretty easily.
go to the back wall of the hallway with the plank boards.
and you can open a door.
anyway. there is a sound issue with the map.
I would check and make sure the MP3 that was in the zip file is installed correctly.
Why this file was not in the pk3? I dont know.
Also the opening screen has bugs.
Mine doesnt work. Locks up the game at times.
those are the things i would look into too see why its lagging out the server.
and inform mpowell if you correct the issue.

Yeah i must agree, it is a killer map, ive been testing the bete and the final now in my public servers- the problem is that it does lag alittle, there are areas that drops your frames and soon as there is more players in it -it just adds to the pain, i was hoping the final version would be better on the lag but it wasnt, Ive got a great card 128bit and all my settings are on low, with the textures you have anyone running a 32 bit card must be tough. Plus is the map pretty dark or is it just me.. I dont know I really dig it, but i cant use it.

Yes! Good Work Powell! While I did not have really bad problems with lag, I could see the Fps dropping considerably at times. Very good job though!

Does anyone know if the map will be fixed? This is just too sweet of a Map not to have in the rotation. I want to put it back up, but it lags something fierce. I got way too many complaints about keeping it up. I'm even getting FPS over 80 on the AVE on it and it still 'Lags'?? with pings to the Server at 30ms, lol.
thanks for any input

Hey everyone, I was playing on a few Servers with Stalingrad Final and some Lagged and some did not, well this is weird. I was getting FPS over 80 on the average too and still lagging, weird.
So I chekced all my zip copies of the downloaded Final Version and there are TWO different Copies of them, I downloaded on the first day and got a copied made at 6:24am. I downloaded 2 days later and got a copy made at 8:08am.
The 6:24am version LAGS to hell and 8:08am version runs smooth as silk, I went ahead and changes to the 8:08 version and it runs like a CAHMP!!!
No more lag at all for me on it with the 8:08 version
hope this helps

I wish it did help Ant.
It was me that started this thread, and I just went into my zip and checked I have the 8:08 version.
Maybe I'll try it again a few times.... you never know.
Cheers,
Stuka

Shoot man, I wish that helped, whenever I change back to the 6:24 version I can't play it, then I switch back to the 8:08 version and bam, smooth as silk? I don't know why??
take it easy man

yah, the map is GREAT! (still no volga powell, heh)
But anyway, I notice a considerable FPS drop at times, and it may be my GF 2 MX, although I do have everything turned down, and avg. 90fps. But Nice map none the less.

hey you guys. i have the same problem. whenever i try to play the map, i get pinged like crazy, but only on that map. i have the 8:08 and it still dosent let me play. when i usually get 80 ping, i am getting 300. any advice?
its not the server, b/c as soon as they change the map, my ping returns to the norm. i cant play my map online ever again if this keeps up. the map is somehow affecting my internet connection. thanks. fire1:

Its a great map, it does lag, I think it might be due to the loopsound that keeps running.
Open up the console and watch.
Other than that, its a awesome map, right up there with Thunder(which is my all time fav), an excellent job!!
I don't see how that will be topped by a Thunder II, but I'm looking forward to the attempt cool:

Hi MPowell44!
You wrote in the readme:
BrushCount : 3,975
EntityCount - 338
VisDataSize : 2,067,976
BSP Compile Time : 149 Seconds
VIS Compile Time : 608 Seconds
Light Compile Time : 5,687 Seconds
Looks like everything was compiled with FAST compile settings (maybe even the light)! So don´t be surprised about higher fps!
Anyway fps isn´t exactly the same as polycounts. As I´ve personally mailed you around 2 weeks ago: often you´ve used the wrong caulk texture and more important you´ve many large walls and brush sides textured that aren´t visible to a player. Even caulk the nonvisible sides of a door post, window frame, stairs ...
I checked your map in spec mode for a long time and saw some overlapping brushes, too. When standing next to a wall I had 95 fps BUT 12.8 Mtex (high settings) because of drawn textures behind it.
I don´t know if the sounds make any problems, as you´ve used a different tech to include positional sounds. (for Ubersound issues please check: [url:404bc]http://www.alliedassault.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=145004[/url:404bc])
Maybe the rotators? sorry no idea.
The map needs some rework on the technical side. It feels "heavy" when running around in it, so please reduce the polycount!
Anyway a very nice map with some refreshing ideas!! I hope ypu don´t read this posting as an offense!!!
Please make the planks destroyable because I found no safe way to the roof ;-) loool
Greetings
Crizz
PS: Have you changed the blocksize or disabled it at all?
