Default Respawn mod and Mixed maps dont work!!??? Anyone Help?????? - 09-09-2002, 08:35 AM

Ok I asked this once and no one responded Ill try again!
Ihave used the GLR respawn mod on my ded server and it works great. I ve tried the Mixed Maps mod too and it works fine. When I try to run both mods together the Respawn stops working. Any one running a server been able to get this to work? Maybe a different respawn mod will work with Mixed Map???
Thanks.

there's probably an identical file in both of them that is modified differently. one is overriding the other (the mod which is named alphabetically last I'd presume, in your case the mixed map one).

I had this same problem when running dogmeat's map fix along with the mixed gametype mod I'd made since they both had the same edited .scr files. the only way to fix this problem I know of is to open up the two pak files and find the offending file within them, which can be rather complicated for some people. then just make sure the modified one is in the pak which executes last (they exec in alphabetical order). if BOTH paks have the file modified --check them against your original if you have to-- then the easiest way to get around it is to combine the changes into one file (which is what I ended up doing) and make sure that one runs. it's a real pain in the ass, especially if the paks have a lot of files in them, but unless somebody else knows a better way (other than just not running one of the mods! LOL) then please let us know.

hopefully mod authors aren't putting a lot of extra unmodded files that are duplicates of ones already in the included paks uneccesarily...

Jennyfur, unfortunately manual editting is about all that can be done for those cases. Mod authors should not be changing the default files and using them in their paks, but of course there have been a few that have done so when it is absolutely not needed. Of course my mod and the mix-gametype mod HAVE to change the original files, so there are a few exceptions. I believe Crow King's mix-gametype mod already has my map fixes folded into it.

yup

jennyfur - i think you're right, there's a conflict and the mix maps is taking precedence.
