Default how do I load a map? - 09-09-2002, 02:03 PM

I just bought MOH last week after playing the demos for weeks. Awesome game, I love it. Here is a question only a newbie could post. I have downloaded heaps of maps - mp and some sp. I thought, to load say a sp map I start console and type maplist. This shows .bsp files. In a nut shell - how do i load a mp or sp map? Is there a link I can go to learn these basic things? Thanks for any help.

he, did you download Cherbourg? héhé it's mine biggrin:
you can just type in maplist in the console, than double click on a bsp file (you must have .bsp)

Hey, thanks divaid2001 for yr quick reply. Yes, I dl Cherbourg. Can't wait to play it. it's just that with all the maps i've dl'd it just has the pk3 file and maybe a text file. i guess i'm a bit lost with the bsp thing. Is there a bsp for each map? I have been putting the pk3 file in the main folder and i thought that all I had to do. I guess i'm missing something here. Thanks again.

yes, for every map there is a .bsp. Please tell me what you think of my map if you've tested it. I have to go now, 'cause it;'s vert late here in Holland...

Yes, i tested it and i'm very impressed. Very well constucted. two things though. One a sniper rifle would be good because the enemy on the other side are very small and hard to see. Two, when i played it my weapons were a bit dark. Otherwise, great fun. By the way, when I clicked on other bsp files it said in the console "file not found". Why would this be. I also have Farmhouse sp map and it shows up as a bsp but won't load. Any clues?
Thanks for yr help.

Just thought I would give u my view about your map ! Its great. I dont think u need to give the player a sniper rifle, it would ruin it.

Maybe u could make it more difficult, by adding a few more enimies.

Also, can you not change it so some of your allies run with you when you move accross the bridge? You end up on the other side alone !

1 problem I found, is the map doesnt end. I killed every1 I could see, but nothing happened.

Out of interrest, how long did it take you to design the map?

When will u realease the map with defending the bridge objective?

As ive only got a 56k modem, I hope more people will design single player maps!

Cheers

he thanks a lot for your reply. Like i said before, I will add objectives in the future. the first level will be a quite level like the bocage levels, where you have to blow up a few 20mm flaks, because otherwise the allies cannot call in air support when needed on the bridge (almost done with it) the second level is the level you played, the fight for the bridge, objective is to capture and clear out the bridge. in the third level you have to hold the bridge (and that one will be awesome) where the germans have tigers, planes etc.
oh, and do you know how to let the ai follow you, i've tried everything, I read the global about ten times, but i can't get them to work, HOW???

I havent got a clue mate. I just downloaded the level editor yesterday, just trying to get a VERY simple level going. Im not new to programming, but the help files within the download are not very helpful for some1 new to map making.

At the moment Im trying to figure out how to give myself a gun when I load up my level .

Come to think of it you're right. Sniper would make it too easy. biggrin: I'd love to get some nades to land across the river though. Can't get the distance even from upstairs in buildings.. Yes, let's see more sp maps. I also am still 56k but sometimes I just enjoy sp levels.
BTW, should a .bsp show in console/maplist every time I put a .pk3 in my /main folder? i have certain maps in that folder but a .bsp doesn't always appear. Learning quickly !!! Really enjoying Cherbourg - keep those levels coming.
