Xm + Sirius = 1 -
02-20-2007, 05:16 PM
So XM bought out Sirius yesterday in D.C. Sirius couldn't not be bought out probably because they gave Howard Stern a 500 Million Dollar Contract rolleyes:
So they are converging to add all their exclusives into one company, no idea if there will be a name change or not. And supposedly they aren't sure if the receivers people own now will work.
So anyone planning on getting either might as well wait until the end of this year or beginning of 08 when they finally merge.
Also dont know how this will hold up, im sure they are going to be sued for a Monopoly.

They made it clear that they wouldn't change the names to one company. And it's for sure that they two companies will be "separate"...meaning, if you wanted Stern on Sirius and whatever channel on XM, you'll have to subscribe to both. Still odd. They need to get passed a bunch of federal laws yet to completely be out of the clear. I think one of their arguments was that there are bunch of other media forms of radio now-a-days like internet radio and online downloading services.

Stern is already on Sirius, i dont understand what you mean subscribe to both, so basically pay 12 a month rather than 6 dollars? Where did you read all this at?

Wrong, i thought that to, but you get so much more than just free FM radio, not to mention no static, and the same channels all over the country, with commercial free music. FM plays like an hour of songs than fucking commercials for 20 mins.
I will go on record with saying that XM is shit compared to Sirius. Commercials on some of their channels and bull shit exclusives.

I'll stick with stock radio. I hate Opie and Anthony as much if not more I did Howard.

Seems more like Sirius buying XM. I think the first thing Mel should do is fire all of the XM people. Get rid of their crappy programming, with the exception of MLB, and start broadcasting all of the Sirius channels on XM satellites. Problem solved.

I agree Colonel. Sirius is superior to XM, much better music, much better exclusives and no fucking bull shit commercials. People who love XM piss me off because they are so loyal to it, when they have fail to see that Sirius is overall a better deal, unless you only got Sirius for MLB, which than you are stupid. I have run into several customers that are like "omg where are you XM radios?!?!" and I want to be like "do you know the difference between Sirius and XM or do you just want XM because its so fucking popular?" But when they ask my opinion on the 2 radios in the end they are like "oh i should just stick with XM because its better" stupid:

Sometimes my rental car gets upgraded and I'll get a car with XM, so I've tried it several times. I also have a friend that has it, so I listen to it when in his car. XM flat out sucks. No redeeming quality at all. The only thing that Sirius doens't have that I would like is Major League Baseball, but I'm a Braves fan and they have a network of stations that is pretty good. I's rather listen to it off of the satellite though. So, I guess the only good thing that comes out of this is baseball.
If a single one of the Sirius stations that I like are eliminated in this deal I'll pound heads.
And like Zoner said, if I have to buy new radios I'll kill someone. I have a radio in my car (my Stilletto 100 babyyy!!), my house, and my daughter's car. If I had to buy all new radios it would be too expensive to do all at one time.
