yeah, i'm thinking the same. i'd rather play this game on medium/high on a pc, or not play it at all, and that's going deep into the $. $ which i don't have.

Crysis may not be as hard on systems as people are thinking. Up untill the 8800 series the game was always run on crossfired x1900's and later in develoment a single x1900 when the performance had been more optomised.

i can't have fluid gameplay in STALKER with settings on medium, so i think i'm fucked when it comes to this.

Stalkers a pile of shite that seems to be dragging down even top end systems.

For some reason i'm running Stalker on 1650X1080 with med settings on my x800pro and i'm sometimes getting over 100fps. It dips down in a few areas, but i'm really surprised aster hearing how it runs like a 2 legged dog.
Gerv, i've seen that crysis vid before man. you're slipping. the_finger:
The depth of field looks unreal. Hope this game can live up to the hype. So far it seems to deserve the hype though.
Also the crysis people said that nearly all the settings will be scalable, therefore giving the ability to run on older systems.

The video itself isn't brand new, its just this is the first time a good quality version of it has been released.
As for Stalker, I'm assuming you're using Static lighting ninty aye?
I get great performance on stalker and although it would be nice to have dynamic lighting, I can live with it. I use an Ati X850XT 256mb Radeon.
I have to send off my hard drive for a replacement in the next few days tho so I won't be on here for a lil while..

yeah, i'm pretty sure i'm using static lighting. i think that if i turned on dynamic lighting my video card would blow up.
game is hard too. bu it sure does give a different style of gameplay i have never experienced before. basically spent an entire stalker night holed up in a hangar with some other stalkers because there were a ton of bandits outside the fence. Didn't have a sniper rifle, just SMG so i couldn't hit shit.
I have heard you can speed up or slow down time using / and * but I tried that and it didn't seem to work.
Regardless I pretty much spend 1.5 real time hours taking pot shots at these guys until they decided to rush the fence and we killed them. Normally it's run and gun, but in this game you can't do that, which is kind of enjoyable.

Was that the area at the big garbage dump where you meet up with that guy? Thats exactly where I'm at, don't wait around there tho as the enemies just keep on coming over and over. I need to take out the 2 guys on the roof then I'm goin to make my way out of the hangar..
As for dynamic lighting, when I 1st played the game dynamic was on full and I got 1fps, lol, my pc was straining to breathe. But static is the exact opposite thankfully

theres loads of mods out for stalker, like oblivion had, that change lots of stuff.
I've only used the 'no headbobbing' one so far tho...
Heres a list of some:
http://stalker.filefront.com/files/Stalker/Mods;3785
using them will prolly lose you your save games tho.
