I would say the officer reacted the way he did when they started showing a lack of respect to the cop. They could have shut their mouthes, sat down and accepted their punishment - instead they tried to punk the cop, and instead got punked themselves. I have zero sympathy for little shits like that who try to equivocate the fact that they FUCKED UP.

you would think differently if you were one of those kids and saw your friend getting manhandled by a cop, who to me seems like he is overly-energetic and unaware of his strength.

i understand that they were breaking the law and the video was definitely one sided, but i dont think anything a TEENAGER could say to the officer would make him so pissed off. the officer should have some more self control and if he really wants to get his authority across, he should use his words more effectively and not his fore-arm on someone's throat.

my friends got arrested after they hopped a fence to get into a skate park late at night. they were cuffed and taken to the station. all they had to do was write an essay discussing trespassing. if you ask me, trespassing is much worse than skateboarding in a public place.
