Default Our Band Could Be Your Life - 07-09-2007, 10:07 PM

If you like music at all, you must read this book. Its fascinating reading the stories and histories of all of these bands and learning how these bands paved the way for bands today. I know a few people here like a few of these bands, and even if you dont like them, its just a really interesting read. I think people should know where the bands they listen to get their influences from.

The bands included in the book are:
Mission of Burma
The Minutemen
Black Flag
Husker Du
Minor Threat
The Replacements
Butthole Surfers
Sonic Youth
Big Black
Fugazi
Mudhoney
Beat Happening
Dinosaur Jr

the only reason i know sonic youth is because they played with the Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill, Pete Yorn, and others at Lollapalooza '96.

its Black Flag. i mean most "loud rock" is influenced by Black Flag because they started the underground hardcore punk scene. after recording and touring continuously for 6 years, they had spread hardcore punk throughout the US and then broke up. but since then, numerous hardcore bands started, and then most of them broke into the mainstream. examples are Rise Against, Bleeding Through, Give Up The Ghost, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Hope Conspiracy, and so many more.

Here's the Rise Against cover of Black Flag- Nervous Breakdown.
