I'm thinking about going on a vacation -

I'm thinking about going on a vacation/self discovery.
I'm thinking about driving across Canada somewhat, from Ontario to British Columbia in Canada, then have some fun and then come home but drive through the United States.
I'm not sure when but i'm going to bring it up with my family this weekend. I will see what kind of vibe I get from them and then maybe start planning.
Have any of you ever taken a long road trip by yourself before? or vacation?
Do any of you Ontario guys know how long it will take to drive to BC?
am I crazy to think or even do something like this, I was thinking about tracking and documenting the whole thing (GPS, webpage/blog, ect...ect...)
I have the money and everything I would need.

It'll take you a day to just get out of Ontario, I'd say.
Driving through the prairies is boring as hell. I'd head east and take the ferry to Newfoundland. You'll never see more beautiful scenery, I guarantee you that.

Don't speed in Ontario!! Ontario takes the longest to drive through, like ger said, prairies are boring, when we drove we watched a dog run away for miles. My friends dad has done to drive from Ottawa to BC and it took him 4 days, mind you he speeds.

If you have some money to blow go to Whistler. Some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen was there. If you want to get back by going through the states I would say go through Seattle, which is also surounded by some awesome mountains.

Read a great article about a guy last winter who drove from Toronto all the way up to the Yukon in February. I would love to do that so much! Cold and snowy but you just have to pay close attention to weather forecasts and drive only in day light.

Dont come to Seattle until the end of this month. There shutting down like one mile of I-5 north. Which means 250,000 some odd daily commuters now have to find differant routes, for 19 days. Theres already 2-4 hour back ups, there saying expect 10 hours.
