Default any automotive tech's here? - 09-14-2007, 03:17 PM

i hit a curb last night going about 30-35 mph. Ripped my tire and cracked my rim beyond repair for both (the rim possibly). Went today and bought a new rim and a used tire for the right front of my car. Now my ride isn't near as smooth pre-crash. Driving today in the rain and it felt like the thing wanted to hydroplane all over the damn road. The left side is the problem though. I think i may have broke a spring/coil ala fucking up my front end/rear left out of alignment.

Any guess's as to what is the problem? The ride is no longer smooth

did you get an alignment? Is the wheel properly balanced? you can't just take one wheel off and slap on another after hitting a curb. need to take it in to have them look at the front end.

yeah i'd say take it in to a trusted mechanic and have them look at the front end. i'm pretty sure you will at least need an alignment and that might fix the problem, but they can tell you gor sure. good luck.

add a spoiler to your car and an unpainted body kit with a 6 inch diameter muffler tip..that should fix the problem

thanks. will do asap. while we wait..here is the list of the things that have happened/ive caused to my car since i've purchased (financing) it in december of 06:

-1 week after i bought the car and driving to birmingham, al on the expressway doing approx 70mph when all of a sudden i see sparks and a tire coming straight for my ride. Too fast to turn so *whap!!* Right front bumper now holds a dent
-cgr valve or something needed replacing
-someone backed up into me and left a white paint stripe on my lights in the back
-pipe gets stuck into tire going to work (approx 1/2 mile away from my home). Guy in tire shop says " i've NEVER seen something like this before"
-car gets broke into outside of workplace. bust window and steals nadah
-ticket 1 of 3. crossed an intersection 3 secs while red
-ticket 2 of 3. Speeding on my way to work going 64>45.
-ticket 3 of 3. Speeding doing 58>45. Wrote down as 48 in a 35
-hit a curb doing 35 looking for a local civic center that just opened. Irony? the curb that i hit was right outside of the civic center

using the other yet undamaged front wheel, hit another kerb at the same speed and
angle, on replacing that rim/tyre, u should find ur car is then fully aligned...probably.

I'd trade a banged up alignment for what happened to my ride. Some critter crawled up into the ventilation system, got chopped up by the blower motor and died. I came out of work last Tuesday and turned the car on. Immediately the smell of death came out of the vents. Then the blower motor shit the bed on me as a result of the unknown animal puree. $500 later and I still have the faint smell of death whenever the vent is open. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when he can't get the BO out of his car. cry:
