lol Gerv...

Am I crazy here? Am I the only one who believes drugs in small doses; moderation etc isn't THAT detrimental to your health. Its not like you are going to blow a line of yayo and then start stealing and robbing to get your fix.... There is this overwhelming perception that drugs (including coke) are absolutely TERRRRIBLE, but I feel its only if you get addicted and start using heavily...

You could argue that its possible for people to get addicted to a drug from the first time they try it. If that happens then you can end up in shit creek as weening yourself off something isn't that easy. Which is probably the reason ive preferred to not try anything drug related, some people may say its dull but ive seen people waffle on for hours about how drinking is dumb etc yet they now do it and all those arguments they made are now null and void. Same thing went for smoking bla bla bla bad for your health it makes you stink etc yet those people are now smoking away like chimney stacks.

Just find it funny how people can find so many negatives in something yet when they do it then its suddenly ok and all the arguments they had against it suddenly don't matter. Probably more to do with peer pressure and trying to fit in though.

Thats really why ive not tried anything and don't intend to, for all i know if i did try something it would be my luck to find something that would realy click with me and find it a hard habit to break. I really don't give a shit what other people do, its just something i prefer to avoid and so far ive stuck to it.

i have never seen anyone start anything to look cool in relation to drugs and alcohol. it's a bullshit school of thought that's easy to buy into. they do it because they like it.

i grew up thinking drugs were ridiculous, i'm one of those people you mentioned. but you know what, i was young and impressionable; and the general population disagrees with using drugs; so of course that's how i felt. i didn't know any better because i never had any perspectives from the positive side to teach me or tell me the positives (there are some believe it or not). all i had were parents, teachers, peers, and the media building all these negative connotations around drugs and drinking. of course as a younger kid i took them all in and that was that. as people get older, they get curious. they start to look at the other side of things, and DEAR GOD they might even try it and like it. it happens all the time through life with lots of things. people change their minds, because people change. simple as that. and you know what, yeah sometimes the negatives outweigh the positives, but i'm not willing to live my life sheltered.

You can call bullshit school of thought all you like, the people i know who are now homeless, jobless, penniless and living day to day at the bottom of a bottle would disagree.

Obviously some people like it and can control it, others do it and find themselves in a situation thats hard to escape from. If it were so easy to just give up for them than i don't think there would be as many alcoholics in the world. The same can be said for any addiction, do you really think that everyone addicted to something do it because they like it? Possibly at the start then they reach a realisation that its not a matter of liking it, its a matter of needing it. When you reach that point that trying to get off it while fighting the craving becomes a battle.

And by the way i wasn't talking about you. im referring to experiences in day to day life not on a messaging program.

well i fit what you first posted, so i thought i was throw out my perspective; even if it wasn't that relevant. i remember thinking that the big 3, drugs smoking and drinking were the most ridiculous things anyone could ever do; but that's all changed.

it's true, some of these things start out as a matter of just liking; but there's always a point in time which it morphs into addiction. being able to recognize that point in time and modifying your behaviour is what self control is about. some addictions are easy to quit, but some are pretty insane; but i see it as "you knew that shit was addictive, yet you continued" so i can't really feel that bad.

i am pretty sure most things are ok if they are done with responsibility. smoke weed in your house...i don't care. just don't go out driving and fucking with people. Same goes for drinking. I don't support underage drinking bc most of the time the kids are fucking morons. If your'e mature about it, go ahead. Be my guest and drink all you want even if you are 16. Stupidity ruins everything.
