Try looking at the mod file. From what i recall about modding, they dont overlay, just 'replace.' if the mod file has the black crosshairs...erase them and save. if not, you now know what file youre looking to mod in the pak files

Thanks. I have been unable to find the black overlay in the pak files but perhaps I just don't know exactly what it is I'm looking for. I know there is a "hud" file that has to do with the scopes but it doesn't seem to control the black cross overlay in the scope that is so annoying to me. It totally blocks the targets if they are at any distance-which is expressly what a sniper scope is used for. Ugh.
