phpBB: Critical Error -
10-18-2002, 08:55 AM
Could not connect to the database.
I get this error every day, multiple times a day. It is very frustrating. Is it by design or is something wrong? Someone please explain this to me.

It's a slight annoyance. Badscript has an excellent sight here and I'm not going to complain.

It's happened to me twice already today and it's only 11:45 am. There's a lot of day left...
EDIT: Add a couple of "The page cannot be displayed" errors as well today.

These forums have never actually worked right for me.
In the early days sometimes i would make a post and be unable to see any replies to it no matter how many replies. Other times it would let me see 1 or 2 replies outta 10.
This critical error shit is getting annoying though, its like the servers timing out or something.

I hope I get this posted before the damn site crashes again...
I'm sorry for bitching but this is ridiculous. I don't think I've ever been to a more unstable site. Don't get me wrong...I love the content...that's why it pisses me off.
I have zero right to tell you how to do your job as I have almost no idea what it takes. I do know, however, that there are better hosts than whatever Mickey Mouse operation you're currently using.

I sometimes get the same error on my website, its not alliedassaults fault, well only for having a shite host. The host is playing around with things and the database server stops working, im not sure exactly why but my db server has been down for over a day at a time.
But who cares... its working now aint it :P

Welp, it's actually mostl ikely mySQL acting up. it isnt AA.com's fault. Perhaps the SQL server gets bogged down (I say mySQL because PHPBB2 doesnt work with, nor does PHP itself) work properly with Microsoft SQL, or any other SQL service. Either mySQL, or PostgreSQL in which I am uncertain of.
