Default What's your MadOnion score? - 10-18-2002, 10:38 AM

My intention for this thread is not to see who's biggest (ok, maybe it is a little bit wink: ). I'm more interested in any comments/suggestions you guys may have for getting a better score. Constructive comments would be appreciated (by me at least).

So here we go...

This score was obtained with the latest drivers and zero Windows tweaking.

Yet again, I come to the conclusion that my computer has something hideously wrong with it. I will retest them however when I get my Gf4 Ti4200 128 MB this weekend. cool:

so whats gonna be better Nvidia's NV30 or Ati's R300?
Why isnt there information about these things yet, they keep these things secret cry: why why oh why.

something i look forward to though,

"So ATI's R300 and NVIDIA's NV30 will comprise the first generation of dedicated graphics chips capable of cinematic quality shading. They won't be capable of rendering all of the best effects seen in recent movies with all of the detail in each scene in real time, but they should be able to deliver some exceptionally compelling graphics in real time. Gamers had better hold on to their seats once games that use these chips arrive. And these chips will challenge entire banks of servers by rendering production-quality frames at near-real-time speeds. Graphics guru John Carmack's recent Slashdot post on the subject anticipates replacing entire render farms with graphics cards within 12 months"

oh wait, i found info freak:

NV30 will be a 0.13-micron chip produced at TSMC.
The NV30 architecture will be similar to R300 but with more features (e.g. more shader instructions supported), higher core clock speed and faster memory.
Although support for a multichip solution is built into NV30, the NV30 platform will be a single chip solution just like every other NVIDIA card.
NV30 taped-out just recently and is 3 - 4 months away from final production silicon.
NVIDIA will most likely launch NV30 before their November/December shipping dates much like ATI launched R300 and Matrox launched Parhelia.
Despite very low yields on the parts, NVIDIA will make sure that enough NV30 parts are available to meet demands for this year.
Realistically speaking, December will probably be the month that NV30 will be readily available.

If all goes as planned, NV30 will be a very worthy successor to the GeForce4
